摘要： A telephone network capable of handling directory assistance calls includes a switch, connection circuitry coupled between the switch and a directory assistance center, and call origination circuitry. In response to receipt of a incoming directory assistance call from the switch, the connection circuitry connects the incoming directory assistance call to the directory assistance center. Following receipt of a requested telephone number from the directory assistance center, the call origination circuitry originates an extension call to the requested telephone number on the public telephone network and transmits, in conjunction with the extension call, at least a billing identifier captured from the incoming directory assistance call. In this manner, the switch is able to automatically associate the extension call with the billing identifier captured from the incoming directory assistance call.

摘要： A user-selectable cursor can be positioned over a portion of a cloud formation displayed on a computer display, where the portion corresponds to precipitation that is expected to move over a target point or area. Predicted precipitation amounts corresponding to the portion are calculated and displayed, allowing the user to see how much precipitation is expected to occur over the target point or area. In one variation, radar reflectivity data indicating relative storm intensities is displayed on the computer screen, and the cursor is used to select a region of interest including one or more cells that are expected to move over a target area. Reflectivity values for each cell that is expected to move over the target area are converted into predicted precipitation rates, and are multiplied by the time that each cell is expected to remain over the target area. Predicted precipitation amounts attributable to each cell that is expected to move across the target area are accumulated and output as a predicted precipitation amount for the target area. If the target area is a watershed comprising multiple cells, then predicted precipitation amounts for each cell in the watershed are averaged to produce a predicted precipitation amount for the watershed. The cursor can be drawn over different regions of interest to allow a user to quickly identify outcomes under different scenarios.

摘要： A vibration isolation system comprises four tunable dual-axis hydraulic inertial isolators, an array of accelerometers, and a controller. The controller inputs signals from the accelerometers and outputs signals to tune the isolators to minimize the vibration transmitted from a vibrating body to an isolated body. The isolators are tuned by varying the dimensions of their tuning passages or by application of magnetohydrodynamic force to the liquid within the tuning passages.

摘要： An incubator is provided for use with a chemical analyzer of the type in which sample fluids are metered onto analysis slides which are subjected to analyses. The incubator includes a temperature-controlled chamber having a rotor mounted therein which supports slides in a plurality of slide-carrying positions. The slide-carrying positions of the rotor are individually indexable to transfer locations wherein slides may be placed on the rotor or removed therefrom. Cover means supported by the rotor include a plurality of covers associated with the slide-carrying positions. The covers are positionable to an operative position to partially enclose a sample fluid to control evaporation. Control means are provided to selectively move a cover from the operative position to permit an analysis slide to be positioned in the transfer location of the incubator or to be removed therefrom, without disturbing the sample fluid on the slide.
