    摘要: When there is a circuit that has to wait for one frame cycle to switch LCD resolution, a user feels uncomfortable because the resolution is switched while the screen is temporarily turned off and blackened or while the screen does keep display but causes flickers. When the user switches to an application that will display in QVGA mode on the LCD while the LCD is displaying in VGA mode, a synchronization signal, etc. are stopped from being output from an LCD controller within a vertical blank period (step S2). Then, a pseudo vertical synchronization signal whose cycle falls within the vertical blank period is generated by the LCD controller to trigger a circuit in a par/ser converting circuit triggered by a vertical synchronization signal (steps S3 to S5), and to realize resolution switching (steps S6 to S8). This prevents blackening/flickering of the screen when the resolution is switched.

    摘要: An optical disk includes a substrate covered with an information recording layer. The information recording layer includes a recording material and an exothermic material dispersed in the recording material. The exothermic material absorbs recording light for recording information, and then generates heat. An external dimension of the exothermic material is smaller than the diffraction limit of reading light for reading information. The recording material has absorptance of a wavelength of the recording light lower than that of the exothermic material. Information is recorded on the recording material as the light refraction index of the recording material changes due to heating.

    摘要: An optical disc capable of repeated recording, such as a DVD−RW, is applicable. An information recording and reproducing apparatus starts recording by making a sync pattern of recording data correspond to a recording reference position determined by an LPP formed on the disc at the time of recording new data on the disc. Afterward, the apparatus continues the recording by gradually shifting a position of the sync pattern of the recording data with respect to the recording reference position, and performs the recording with a shift quantity fixed to the predetermined shift quantity when the shift quantity thereof reaches a quantity equal to or larger than a predetermined quantity. Thereby, at a rewriting portion on the optical disc, the shift between recorded data and a recording start position of recording data for rewriting can be small, and establishing synchronization at the time of reproducing or rewriting can be stably performed.

Then, the first and the second information recording/reproduction units are glued together by a transparent bonding layer 4, with the translucent film layer 3 facing the second recording layer 5, so that a two-layer information recording medium is obtained. Further, grooves G and lands L are formed for the first and the second recording layers 2 and 5. The depths of the grooves are substantially equal for the first and the second recording layers 2 and 5, the heights of the lands L are substantially equal for the first and the second recording layers 2 and 5, and the depth of the grooves G are greater than the height of the lands L.
