Abstract: An example device for decoding video data includes a memory configured to store video data; and one or more processors implemented in circuitry and configured to: generate an intra-prediction block for a current block of video data using an angular intra-prediction mode, the angular intra-prediction mode being an upper-right angular intra-prediction mode or a lower-left angular intra-prediction mode; determine a prediction direction of the angular intra-prediction mode; for at least one sample of the intra-prediction block for the current block: calculate a gradient term for the at least one sample along the prediction direction; and combine a value of an intra-predicted sample of the intra-prediction block at a position of the at least one sample of the intra-prediction block with the gradient term to produce a value of the at least one sample of the intra-prediction block; and decode the current block using the intra-prediction block.

Abstract: A video coder determines whether a coding mode of a first block of the video data is in a set of applicable coding modes. The set of applicable coding modes includes at least one of a block-based delta pulse code modulation mode, a transform skip mode, or a palette mode. The video coder determines whether a coding mode of a second block of the video data is in the set of applicable coding modes, wherein the second block is adjacent to the first block. The video coder determines that a deblocking filter is disabled for a color component of at least one of the first block or the second block based on at least one of: the coding mode of the first block being in the set of applicable coding modes or the coding mode of the second block being in the set of applicable coding modes.

Abstract: Examples of block-level signaling of quantization parameter offsets is described. Such block-level signaling of quantization parameter offsets provides block level flexibility to determine a more precise chroma quantization parameter (QP) for a chroma block. With the block-level quantization parameter offset signaling described in this disclosure, there is more flexibility in defining the chroma QP, resulting in more accurate determination of chroma QP on a chroma block-by-chroma block basis.

Abstract: Techniques are described using Position Dependent Intra Prediction Combination (PDPC) with wide angle intra prediction. For example, a size of the current block of video data can be determined. Based on the size, a wide angle intra-prediction mode can be determined for the current block. A prediction block for the current block can be determined using the wide angle intra-prediction mode. A prediction sample from the prediction block can be modified to generate a modified prediction sample using PDPC, which can include determining one or more reference samples that are external to the current block based on the wide angle intra-prediction mode, and modifying the prediction sample to generate the modified prediction sample based on the determined one or more reference samples.

Abstract: A device for decoding 360-degree video data is configured to store a decoded picture of 360-degree video as a reference frame; derive an extended reference frame from the stored reference frame based on a padding amount by extending a first cube face in the reference frame; inter-predict a block of a current picture from a block of the extended reference frame by determining a motion vector for the block of the current picture; in response to a determination that the motion vector points to a cube face in the extended reference frame other than the first cube face, clipping the motion vector such that the motion vector points to a location in the first cube face; and locating a prediction block for a current block using the clipped motion vector.

Abstract: Techniques and systems are described for mapping 360-degree video data to a truncated square pyramid shape. A 360-degree video frame can include 360-degrees' worth of pixel data, and thus be spherical in shape. By mapping the spherical video data to the planes provided by a truncated square pyramid, the total size of the 360-degree video frame can be reduced. The planes of the truncated square pyramid can be oriented such that the base of the truncated square pyramid represents a front view and the top of the truncated square pyramid represents a back view. In this way, the front view can be captured at full resolution, the back view can be captured at reduced resolution, and the left, right, up, and bottom views can be captured at decreasing resolutions. Frame packing structures can also be defined for 360-degree video data that has been mapped to a truncated square pyramid shape.
