Abstract: A data preservation method applicable to an electronic device operating with an open operating system having a data storage region includes creating a disk partition; creating an authority to access the disk partition and get linked to a group ID (GID); mounting the disk partition in a directory having a user ID (UID) and the GID; and giving authority related to the linked GID to an application having the authority, so as to access data in the disk partition having the GID. The authority, coupled with the GID, allows a specific disk partition to store data generated as a result of execution of the application. Even if the application causes a UID change later for some reason, the application bestowed with the authority can still access data through the GID, thereby preserving data.

Abstract: An electronic device having a heat-dissipating structure includes a housing, a printed circuit board, a heat-dissipating element, and a thermal conductive element. The housing has an opening and internally defines a receiving space. The printed circuit board is located in the receiving space and has an electronic component mounted thereon. The heat-dissipating element has a first surface and an opposing second surface, and is disposed above the printed circuit board to locate in the receiving space of the housing wile the first surface is exposed from the housing via the opening. The thermal conductive element is disposed between the heat-dissipating element and the electronic component for transferring heat generated by the electronic component to the heat-dissipating element, so that the heat is directly dissipated into ambient air via the opening. Accordingly, heat produced by the electronic component can be efficiently removed without accumulating in the electronic device.

Abstract: A light measurement system measures light characteristics of a plurality of light sources and includes a processing unit, a plurality of capturing modules, a plurality of signal conversion units, and a demultiplexing unit. The processing unit generates a control signal for controlling the capturing modules to capture the light characteristics of the light sources. After capturing the light characteristics, the capturing modules output captured frequency-related data corresponding to the light characteristics respectively. Then, the capture frequency-related data are converted into capture bit codes by the signal conversion units respectively. Under the control of the processing unit, the demultiplexing unit selectively sends the capture bit code of each of the signal conversion units to the processing unit. Accordingly, the light measurement system measures the light sources synchronously and allows the demultiplexing unit to send the capture bit code of any one of the light sources to the processing unit.

Abstract: An ultrasonic welding structure includes a welding plane and an energy-directing edge. The welding plane is formed on a first object or a second object. The energy-directing edge is formed on the first object or the second object and corresponds in position to the welding plane. The welding plane is oblique to a lamination direction of an ultrasonic device. The first object and the second object are welded together by ultrasonic welding which requires laminating the first object to the second object in the lamination direction so as for the energy-directing edge to exert a contact pressure upon the welding plane. Due to the welding plane and the energy-directing edge, ultrasonic welding thus performed requires less welding area and alignment structure than are taught by the prior art and is conducive to miniaturization of mobile electronic products.

Abstract: An electric lock control circuit and method allow users to control an electric lock with a reference password pertaining to a parameter related to at least two dimensions. The circuit includes a substrate, a memory unit, an input unit, and a processing unit. The memory unit stores the reference password. The input unit rotates in a space of at least two dimensions to generate a parameter signal related to at least two dimensions. The processing unit encodes the parameter signal to turn the parameter signal into an input code and outputs an unlocking signal or a locking signal based on a result of comparison of the input code and the reference password to control the electric lock. Controlling the electric lock with a reference password pertaining to a parameter related to at least two dimensions enhances confidentiality and complexity of the electric lock.
