Abstract: Systems and methods are described to identify jump points indicative of potential time points from which to resume consumption of the media asset in response to receiving a request to skip a portion of a media asset being consumed. The jump points include a first jump point identified based on a content viewing profile and a second jump point identified based on a scene information associated with the media asset. A preview image is displayed at each of the identified jump points. Systems and methods are also described to pause the skipping operation at the identified jump points and provide a preview at the respective jump points. Systems and method are further described to identify jump points based on analysis of the portion of the media asset being skipped.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein to search for content recommendations, and in particular, for generating emoji-based metadata for content and processing an emoji-based query using the emoji-based metadata. A system identifies a content item posted via one or more social platforms. A system may retrieve a quantity of instances of a reaction to the content item. The reaction may correspond to an emoji. A system may retrieve a comment posted in association with the content item via the one or more social platforms. A system may map the comment to the emoji based on a rule. The system may generate a factor associated with the content item and the emoji based on the quantity of instances of the reaction and based on the mapping of the comment to the emoji. The system stores the factor in a database in association with an identifier of the content item to facilitate processing of an emoji-based query.

Abstract: A system for generating annotations is configured to generate annotations having a format similar to a title and tailored to a user profile. The system identifies a media content item, and associated metadata, and determines a title corresponding to the media content item. The system generates a title template based on the title and based on metadata associated with the media content item. Based on the title template and user profile information, the system generates an annotation, which is linked to the media content item. The system may generate more than one annotation, and then select among the annotations for the most appropriate annotation for a given user. The annotation may include keywords or entities that are included in, linked to, or otherwise associated with the user profile information. The system outputs, or generates for output, a display that includes a representation of the media content item and the annotation.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for causing to be provided contextual information for a content item. The system identifies that a subject in a content item is currently being referenced and determines when the subject was last referenced in the content item. For example, the system identifies a king being discussed by characters in a television series and determines the king was referenced three months ago. The system determines, based on the last time the subject was referenced, whether to provide contextual information about the subject. Using the determined three-month lapse in time since the king was last referenced, the system determines that contextual information about the king should be provided. Accordingly, the system causes to be displayed the contextual information after determining contextual information should be provided.

Abstract: A system for managing media content annotations is configured to generate annotations having a format similar to a title and tailored to a user profile. The system identifies a media content item and identifies a user entity. The system selects from among a plurality of annotations linked to the media content item and stored in metadata. For example, the system may generate more than one annotation, generate links between each annotation and user profile information, and then select among the annotations for the most appropriate annotation for a given user. The annotation may include keywords or entities that are included in, linked to, or otherwise associated with the user profile information. The system outputs, or generates for output, a display that includes a representation of the media content item and the selected annotation.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for inserting dialogue into query responses by generating and using dialogue metadata in conjunction with response templates. Metadata for each portion of dialogue of a plurality of portions of dialogue from a number of content items is stored, including information regarding the source content item, a transcript of the dialogue, and grammatical information. Upon receiving a query related to a content item, a type of response is first determined. Based on the type of response, and using the dialogue metadata, a portion of dialogue is identified for insertion into the response. The identified portion of dialogue is retrieved and inserted at an appropriate position within the response. The response is then generated for output.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for causing to be provided contextual information for a content item. The system identifies that a subject in a content item is currently being referenced and determines whether consumption of the content item could be enhanced based on the referenced subject. Accordingly, the system causes to be displayed the contextual information within closed captioning after determining contextual information should be provided.

Abstract: Methods and systems for filtering video content items are described herein. The system identifies a plurality of video content items that are linked to respective image content items. The system determines, for each of the plurality of video content items, whether a video content item corresponds to a respective image content item. In response to the determining, the system causes to be provided information identifying the plurality of video content items excluding video content items that do not correspond to respective image content items.

Generating media content keywords based on video-hosting website content

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating media program keywords based on a video-hosting website are disclosed herein. Control circuitry identifies, on the video-hosting website, video content items that include at least a portion of a media program. The media program has a media program identifier and the video content items have respective titles, each including one or more terms. The control circuitry identifies a term included in more than one of the titles and identifies a group of the video content items that have the term included in their title. Based on the video-hosting website, the control circuitry determines a cumulative number of rankings of the video content items within the group and generates a relevance score for the term based on the cumulative number of rankings. The control circuitry stores the term and the relevance score in a keyword database in association with the media program identifier.
