    摘要: A wiper arm assembly and method of construction thereof includes a mounting head and a wiper arm configured for relative rotation during assembly from a disassembled position to a shipping position, wherein the wiper arm and mounting head are locked against rotation toward the disassembled position once in the shipping position. The mounting head and wiper arm have locking surfaces configured for locked engagement with one another while in the shipping position. The locking surfaces are brought into engagement with one another by a force imparted by a spring while rotating the mounting head relative to the wiper arm from the disassembled position toward the shipping position. When in the shipping position, the locking surfaces confront each other and prevent the mounting head and the wiper arm from rotating back toward the disassembled position from the shipping position.

    摘要: An apparatus and method of electrochemical machining utilizes a computer controlled static array of electrically insulated cathode sections to selectively and individually energize the electrodes for the purpose of shaping the surface of a part. The tightly clustered array of electrodes can be formed by individual wires as an example. The waste reaction products may be managed so as to improve machining accuracy. The electrodes can be composed of materials capable of generating an oxide layer or that resist electrolytic dissolution to combat the problem of crossover erosion in closely spaced conditions. An alternative approach to remedy crossover erosion is to extend the reach of insulation into the gap space between tool and part.

The magnet segments (50) are formed with tongues (62, 64) on their upper and lower ends (56, 58). One tongue (64) seats in a retaining pocket (48) molded on the rotor shaft (40), whereas the other tongue (62) provides a ledge into which the ring (68) seats. After the magnet forming operation, wherein the ring (68) is shrunk, the outer surface of the ring (68) is flush with the outer surfaces (54) of the magnet segments (50).

    摘要: A seal assembly and method for the manufacture thereof is provided. The seal assembly provides a dynamic fluid seal between a housing having a bore and a shaft having an outer running surface rotating within the bore. The seal assembly comprises a rigid carrier for supporting the seal assembly within the bore of the housing. A flexible member is mounted to the rigid carrier. The flexible member is formed from an elastomeric material that allows the flexible member to flex during use. A sealing element is retained by the flexible member about the outer running surface. The sealing element is formed from a non-polytetrafluoroethylene bearing grade plastic material having a hardness relatively greater than a hardness of the elastomeric material of the flexible member. The sealing element moves with the flexible member as the flexible member flexes. The sealing element extends along the outer running surface in a plurality of helically wound convolutions.

    摘要: A spark plug for igniting gases in an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The spark plug has a center electrode, an insulator, a one-piece shell, and a terminal. The center electrode is in communication with an energy source. The insulator surrounds the center electrode. The one-piece shell surrounds and contacts the insulator for securing the insulator within the shell, wherein the shell has a plurality of threads near a first end and a ground electrode attached to the shell and aligned with a tip of the center electrode at a second end to define a spark gap. Further, a seat is formed in the shell between the plurality of threads and the ground electrode for sealing the shell against the engine. The terminal has a first end in communication with the center electrode and a second end which has a connector portion for connecting to the energy source.

    摘要: A non-woven acoustic sleeve and method of construction thereof provides routing and protection for elongate members and suppression of noise generation from the elongate members while in the sleeve. The sleeve has an elongate wall with opposite sides that are self-wrapping about a longitudinal axis to define a generally tubular cavity. The opposite sides are extendable away from one another under an externally applied force to allow the elongate members to be disposed radially into or removed from the cavity. When the external force is released, the opposite sides of the wall to return to their self wrapped configuration to enclose the elongate members and suppress noise therefrom.
