摘要: A method comprises measuring a first external pressure within an annulus formed between a wellbore and a drill string disposed therein, where the first external pressure is measured by a first external pressure sensor. A fluid is pumped through the drill string into the annulus so as to move any cuttings in the annulus above the first external pressure sensor. A first internal pressure is measured within the drill string by a first internal pressure sensor. The first external pressure sensor is disposed between the first internal pressure sensor and a bottom of the wellbore.

摘要: The disclosure relates to a downhole activation assembly for activating a downhole component of a downhole tool positionable in a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation. The activation assembly includes a housing operatively connectable to the downhole tool, a piston slidably positionable in the housing with a chamber defined therebetween, and a valve. The piston has a flow channel therethrough. The valve is positionable about the flow channel of the piston, the valve comprising a fixed plate and a rotatable plate. The rotatable plate is movable about the fixed plate to define a variable bore to selectively restrict flow through the flow channel and to vary pressure about the piston whereby the piston is selectively moved to shift the downhole component between activation positions.

摘要: A shock assembly for use with a motion tool deployable into a wellbore by a conveyance. The motion tool includes a mandrel operatively connectable to the conveyance or the motion tool, a housing operatively connectable to the motion tool or the conveyance (the housing having an opening to slidingly receive the mandrel and including a first and a second spring portion), a first spring slidably positionable in the first spring portion and having a first spring stiffness, and a second spring slidably positionable in the second spring portion having a second spring stiffness. The second spring stiffness being less than the first spring stiffness such that the first and second springs selectively engage as the housing slidingly moves about the mandrel in response to forces applied to the system to selectively restrict movement between the mandrel and the housing whereby the motion tool is vibrated.

摘要: A cutting element for a drill bit is advanceable into a subterranean formation to form a wellbore. The cutting element includes an element body having a face at an end thereof, and a ridge. The element body has a face at an end thereof. The face has a ramp and a pair of side regions thereon. The ramp has a curved edge along a periphery of the face and two sides. Each of the two sides extends from opposite ends of the curved edge and converges at a location along the face. The face has a chamfer along a peripheral edge thereof. The ridge is between the chamfer and the location. Each of the pair of side regions is positioned on opposite sides of the ridge and extends between the periphery, the ridge, and one of the two sides of the ramp whereby the chamfer engages a wall of the wellbore and extrudate is drawn along the pair of side regions.

The second pre-infiltrated hardphase constituent is a carbide which comprises at least 0.5 weight % of a binder and at least about 1% porosity. The composite material further comprises an infiltrant.

The bit body is configured to rotate about the central axis in a cutting direction. In addition, the bit includes a cutting structure disposed on the bit face. The cutting structure includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced blades and a plurality of primary cutter elements mounted to each blade. Each primary cutter element has a forward-facing primary cutting face. Each primary cutter element is made of a whisker ceramic composite.

摘要: A polycrystalline-diamond cutting element for a drill bit of a downhole tool. The cutting element includes a substrate and a diamond table bonded to the substrate. The diamond table includes a diamond filler with at least one leached polycrystalline diamond segment packed therein along at least one working surface thereof. The cutting element may be formed by positioning the diamond table on the substrate and bonding the diamond table onto the substrate such that the polycrystalline diamond segment is positioned along at least one working surface of the diamond table. A spark plasma sintering or double press operation may be used to bond the diamond table onto the substrate.

摘要: A downhole activation assembly for activating a downhole component of a downhole tool positionable in a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation. The activation assembly includes a housing operatively connectable to the downhole tool, a spring-loaded sleeve, and a ball catcher. The sleeve slidably positionable in the housing, and having a flow channel therethrough and an outer surface defining a chamber between the sleeve and the housing. The sleeve having inlets therethrough about a sleeve end thereof to permit fluid from the flow channel to pass therethrough. The ball catcher slidably positionable in the housing, and having a catcher end engageable with the sleeve end to selectively divert the fluid thereabout and a ball seat therein to receivingly engage a ball passing through the sleeve whereby the ball catcher selectively moves the downhole component between activation positions.
