摘要： A power-off electromechanical brake employs a friction disk compressed between a ferromagnetic clapper plate and a pressure plate. An electromagnet may pull the clapper plate away from the friction disk or the pressure plate and clapper plate may be separated by free floating spacer elements held within a rotating race positioned between the clapper plate and the pressure plate. In a first mode, cavities in the clapper plate receive spacer elements held within the race and the friction disk is compressed. In a manual release mode, the spacer elements no longer engage with the cavities and separate the pressure plate and clapper plate.

摘要： A bearing assembly includes an inner ring assembly defining a bore for receiving a shaft, and an outer ring assembly disposed radially outward from the inner ring assembly. A plurality of rotatable bearing elements are disposed between the inner and outer rings and permit the rotation of the shaft and inner ring relative to the outer ring. An annular member extends from the outer ring assembly radially inward toward the inner ring assembly. The annular member is secured to a housing surrounding the outer ring and axially bounds an area between the inner ring and the outer ring in which the plurality of rotatable bearing elements are disposed. A first seal is disposed outside the bearing area to seal a chamber between the annular member and the inner ring. The first seal permits egress of lubricant from the chamber but inhibits ingress of foreign matter therein. A second seal is disposed proximate the area and permits egress of lubricant between the inner ring and the annular member from the bearing area into the chamber, creating a lubricant dam between the first seal and the second seal.

摘要： An enclosure for an electrical motor of the explosion proof type, wherein each of the openings for the cable supporting the electrical leads of the motor includes an adapter threadedly received in the opening, and a plug coaxially received in the adapter. The adapter and the plug are retained by means of a C-shaped clamp plate which is releasably fixed directly to the wall of the enclosure and which includes an edge portion which is received in a circumferential groove in the plug. The plug may be solid in cases where it closes the spare lead opening, or it may have an internal passage through which the electrical cable extends.

摘要： A bearing assembly including an improved clamping arrangement for effecting securement to a rotating shaft. The bearing assembly includes a bearing inner ring member and a bearing outer ring member having a plurality of bearing elements located therebetween. A second extension portion extends from the greater diameter end of a tapered inner surface defined in the inner ring member, the second extension portion defining a circumferential receiving groove. A tapered adapter having a tapered outer surface, generally complementary to the tapered inner surface, is received in the inner ring member. The tapered adapter includes a first extension portion extending from the greater diameter end of the tapered outer surface and defining outer threads thereabout. A nut is provided having a first axial portion defining inner threads for engaging the outer threads of the first extension portion. The nut further includes a second axial portion including an arcuate engaging lip for mating with the circumferential receiving groove of the second extension portion. The arcuate engaging lip is preferably no more than approximately semicircular in extent. The nut is configured in this case having an appropriate mass-excised portion to achieve rotational balance.

A first lubrication path is defined by the outer ring assembly to conduct lubricant to the bearing chamber. A second lubrication path is defined by the housing to conduct lubricant to the first lubrication path. Preferably, a threaded fitting extends through the second lubrication path and is threadably secured to the first lubrication path so that lubricant may be conducted directly into the first lubrication path without leakage between the bearing group and the housing.

To maintain the molten metal in its molten state, the valve includes a heater fixedly secured to the valve housing and inserted to a selected heating location at least partially in the flow path of the molten metal. The heater element preferably includes an elongated cartridge assembly extending to a location inside of the valve housing to be proximate to the stopper member when the valve is closed. Preferably, an end portion of the cartridge will extend into a bore defined in the stopper member when the valve is closed. The valve may be incorporated into a molten metal circulation apparatus for facilitating the casting of metal articles.

摘要： A communication system providing for the duplication of data and information transmission between programmable controllers is disclosed. A modem is provided for each programmable controller and each processor within a programmable controller in the system, and the modems are interconnected by pairs of coaxial cables. Each transmission from a programmable controller or processor within a programmable controller is simultaneously transmitted via its associated modem over both cables to all of the other programmable controllers and processors within programmable controllers in the system. The receiving modems select the data or information from one of the cables, based on the integrity of the data being received, and transmit same to its associated programmable controller or processor within a programmable controller.

An inner race of the bearing assembly includes a clamping portion having a plurality of circumferentially spaced axial slots to form respective clamping fingers. A clamping collar mounts about the clamping fingers and is tightened to force the clamping fingers into clamping engagement with the shaft. The clamping collar has therein at least one relief indentation to provide enhanced flexibility. The enhanced flexibility allows a greater clamping force to be applied to the clamping fingers, and thus to the shaft.

摘要： A variable speed belt drive of the type having a pair of shiftable discs received on respective input and output shafts with a drive belt entrained thereabout further includes a cooperating housing backbone and support bracket. The housing backbone supports one axial end of the output shaft, and supports the support bracket, which extends through the loop of the drive belt to support the opposite end of the output shaft. The straddle support arrangement permits use of a nonload bearing housing cover and permits the performance of maintenance procedures for the drive belt and input shaft without disengaging alignment and support of the output shaft. One end of the input shaft is supported by the housing and the opposite end is supported with a thrust bearing which is received in a pivot mounted shifting yoke. The yoke cooperates with a member which is axially moved along a shifting screw, to transmit axial shifting force through the thrust bearing to the input shaft so as to change speeds for the variable belt drive. The output shaft support bracket cooperates with the housing to support the shifting screw. The body of the housing serves an alignment function for the fixed constant speed disc of the input shaft. Mounting the support bracket automatically aligns discs on the output shaft per snap rings received in predetermined slots on such shaft for axially situating bearings supporting the output shaft.
