    摘要: An adjustable die head for extruders and the like advantageous for use in forming corrugated tubing with or without an interior skim layer. The die head is secured to an extruder apparatus and utilizes a removable stock control spacer for controlling the rate of flow of stock from an annular shaped outlet. Separate conduits are provided within the extruder die head which communicate with air outlets arranged at longitudinally spaced intervals along the die head. A conduit is also provided for communication with stock outlet openings which are utilized to form the skim layer within the corrugated tubing. Adjustable collars are provided at axially spaced intervals along the die head for regulating the flow of air and stock through the aforesaid outlet openings or alternatively to cut off selected ones of the aforesaid flows, if desired.

    摘要: A flexible conduit having a helical wire reinforcement embedded in the wall thereof; the reinforcement being of a character to normally place the conduit in its axially contractile condition, yet permitting axial extension as required and restoration to its contractile condition; together with a method of making such a conduit. The convolutions of the helical wire reinforcement being under torsional stress whereby the conduit in its contractile state has pleat forming wall portions between successive helical convolutions of the reinforcement; such pleat forming wall portions tending to extend radially inward despite repeated alternate extension and contraction of the conduit. The conduit is formed by disposing inner and outer wall portions of elastomeric material on a mandrel with an interposed helical wire winding therebetween; the winding being applied over the inner wall portion in an axially stretched condition while the winding is subjected to torsional forces.

    摘要: Flexible corrugated tubing, preferably formed of a thermoplastic material having a plurality of thin strips or beads of the same plastic material used to form the tubing. The stripes or beads are arranged at discrete angular positions along the interior surface of the tubing and extend from internal peak to internal peak for the length of the tubing section. The introduction of the thin plastic beads has no measurable effect upon the flexibility of the tubing and is extremely effective in eliminating whistling in operation. The tubing may be formed in a continuous process, for example, in the manner described in U.S. Pat. No. 3,280,430, issued Oct. 25, 1966, which is further provided with means for either extruding beads of plastic material to form the plastic stripes or is provided with scraping means for scraping small portions of plastic material utilized to form the corrugated configuration and extending the scraped material from internal peak to internal peak along the length of the continuously formed tubing.
