    摘要: An inspection system and method for scanning and recording defects in the surface of the smooth inner wall of dual wall corrugated plastic pipe during manufacture utilizing automated laser technology, in order to minimize potential disruptions in the manufacturing extrusion process and alleviate concerns as to improper formation of the inner wall. The inspection system includes conical laser pattern generator that passes through the dual wall corrugated pipe during the manufacturing process to complete 360 degree scan coverage of the surface of the inner smooth wall of the pipe. The inspection system further includes a set of cameras properly aligned to record comprehensive three dimensional coverage of the scanned image of the inner wall of the dual wall corrugated pipe. This inspection system and method has particular benefits in the manufacture of coilable dual wall corrugated plastic pipe, where the material make-up of the polymer melt used for the inner wall has been altered.

A continuous extrusion blow molding system and a method are also provided for forming a hollow plastic product and punching a continuously-extruded, blow molded product before it is released from a mold.

    摘要: A method and an apparatus for producing an endless double-walled pipe having corrugated pipe sections and sleeve pipe sections are described. The production is effected by extrusion of an outer tube (Sa), forming the outer pipe of the double-walled pipe, and of an inner tube (Si), forming the inner tube of the double-walled pipe, in a molding passage (10) having sections with a corrugated molding surface and a smooth cylindrical sleeve molding surface. To shape the sleeve section, the outer tube is extruded into the sleeve molding surface and is brought into contact with the sleeve molding surface. The inner tube (Si) is then extruded into the outer tube (Sa), already in contact over the entire axial length of the sleeve molding surface, and is brought in the process into contact with the inner side of said outer tube (Sa) that is in contact.

The method includes providing first and second thermoplastic corrugated pipe segments arranged to form a fluid flow path and aligning ends of the pipe segments adjacent one another to form a joint. The method further includes providing a coupling assembly having a thermoplastic sheet with a flexible weld rod of a thermoplastic material attached thereto and circumferentially contacting the coupling assembly with the first and second thermoplastic pipe segments. An electrical current is applied to the weld rod to cause the weld rod, sheet and pipe segments to fuse to one another and form a circumferential weld seam on each side of the joint.

The moving mold tunnel includes a cooling plug over which the second parison moves to form the inner pipe wall while the outer wall of the pipe is formed against the interior surface of the mold tunnel. An air assist is provided internally of and helps to move the inner parison onto the cooling plug.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for fusing a bell connector to the end of a corrugated thermoplastic pipe are disclosed in which an expandable mandrel grips a preformed bell and a pipe support grips a pipe co-axial with the longitudinal axis of the bell. A pipe trimmer for facing the pipe end may be moved into and out of the axis of the pipe if necessary for trimming the pipe end to provide a uniform planar flange face and a heater, combined with a supporting flange, moved sequentially into and out of the axis of the pipe and bell for heating the opposed faces of the trimmed end of the pipe and the end of the bell to a desired fusing temperature. Upon heating of the opposed faces of the bell and the pipe to a predetermined fusing temperature, the said faces of the bell and the pipe are abutted against each other, with the back side of the corrugated pipe flange face fully supported by the supporting flange, i.e. backing ring, at a predetermined pressure for a time sufficient to fuse the bell and pipe together.

    摘要: A travelling mold tunnel for forming double walled corrugated tube has a first portion for forming corrugated tube and a second belled portion for forming a cuff portion suitable for coupling with another tube. At the upstream end of the belled portion, radial small diameter passages are provided so that a pressure differential may be set up between the inside and the outside of a first parison within the belled portion. Thus, vacuum may be applied through the radial passages to allow an inner parison to laminate with the first parison over its inner surface in the belled portion. The first parison is drawn into the passages in protruding balloons. These may be ruptured. Alternatively, positive pressure may be used. In this case, the balloons may be ruptured inwardly.
