Abstract: A connector including two connector portions each including a ferrule and a latch, each latch including a distal end, and a proximal end, wherein the latch is pivotable about an intermediate connection portion; and a boot mounted to the connector portions, the boot movable longitudinally relative to the connector portions, wherein the boot causes the distal ends of the latch to pivot toward the ferrule of each connector portion as the boot is moved away from the connector portions. Front housings of the connector portions can each be rotated about the longitudinal axis of the ferrule without rotating the ferrule or the boot, to change the polarity of the two connector portions. The spacing between the two ferrules is adjustable. A holder holds the connector portions, the holder including side slots, the connector portions mounted to the holder by moving laterally to the side slots. The holder defines an area for receipt of a fiber optic cable when the ferrule is pushed in a direction toward the boot.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a telecommunications connector having cross-talk compensations, and a method of managing alien crosstalk in such a connector. In one example, the telecommunications connector includes electrical conductors arranged in differential pairs and a circuit board with conductive layers that provide a cross-talk compensation arrangement for applying capacitance between the electrical conductors. The circuit board includes conductive paths that provide capacitive coupling and a conductive plate that intensifies capacitive coupling of the electrical conductors. In another example, the telecommunications connector is used with a twisted pair system. Capacitances applied by the crosstalk compensation arrangement between electrical conductors associated with the pairs are provided such that, for each differential pair, a magnitude of an overall capacitance at a first electrical conductor of a differential pair is approximately equal to a magnitude of an overall capacitance at a second electrical conductor of the differential pair.

Abstract: One embodiment is directed to a heterogeneous physical layer management system comprising first devices, each comprising first physical layer information acquisition technology to obtain physical layer information about cabling attached to the first devices. The system further comprises second devices, each comprising second physical layer information acquisition technology to obtain physical layer information about cabling attached to the second devices, wherein the second physical layer information acquisition technology differs from the first physical layer information acquisition technology. The system further comprises a common management application communicatively coupled to the first devices and the second devices, wherein the common management application is configured to aggregate physical layer information from the first devices and the second devices. Another embodiment is directed to providing a physical layer management application as a service hosted by a third party. Other embodiments are disclosed.
