摘要： An image forming apparatus including multiple image bearing members that bear respective electrostatic latent images, provided in tandem; multiple developing devices that develop the respective electrostatic latent images with toner to form respective toner images; an intermediate transfer member onto which the multiple toner images are transferred to form a composite toner image; multiple first lubricant applicators that apply a lubricant to the respective image bearing members; and a second lubricant applicator that applies a lubricant to the intermediate transfer member, provided upstream from the extreme upstream image bearing member. In this image forming apparatus, the amount of lubricant applied from the extreme upstream first lubricant applicator to the extreme upstream image bearing member is smaller than that applied from each of the other lubricant applicators to the respective image bearing members.

摘要： A cleaning device, a process cartridge, an image forming apparatus, and toner to maintain improved cleaning performance for a long time. The cleaning device includes a cleaning blade, a lubricant applying part, and a toner removing part. The cleaning blade is disposed in contact with a surface of an image bearing member. The lubricant applying part coats a solid lubricant on the surface of the image bearing member, and is disposed in an upstream side from the cleaning blade with respect to a rotational direction of the image bearing member. The toner removing part removes toner particles, and is disposed in an upstream side from the lubricant applying part with respect to the rotational direction of the image bearing member.

摘要： An image-forming apparatus includes an image-bearing device that holds an electrostatic latent image and a toner image thereon, and a developer container that contains and agitates a developer having at least a toner. The image-forming apparatus also includes a developer-bearing device that carries the developer to develop the electrostatic latent image on the image-bearing device, and a density sensor that detects an optical density of a surface of the image-bearing device and a toner image on the image-bearing device. Further, the image-forming apparatus includes a developer seal that seals the developer in the developer container, wherein the seal is disposed between the developer container and the developer-bearing device, and an actuator configured to actuate the developer container and the developer-bearing device. The image-forming apparatus still further includes a control device that determines whether the developer seal is removed according to information on the optical density of the toner image output by the density sensor.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a charging element configured to apply a charging voltage to an image bearing member to charge the image bearing member, an optical writing device configured to form a latent image on a charged surface of the image bearing member charged by the charging element, a developer bearing member which carries developer including toner having a same polarity as that of the charging voltage to the image bearing member and which applies the toner to the latent image on the image bearing member to form a toner image when a developing bias voltage is applied thereto, and a control device which controls application of the charging voltage by the charging element and application of the developing bias voltage to the developer bearing member so as to increase an absolute value of the charging voltage to the image bearing member and an absolute value of the developing bias voltage to the developer bearing member to a predetermined value in a plurality of steps, respectively and wherein the following relation holds for each of the plurality of steps:190(V).ltoreq.(V.sub.DC -V.sub.D).ltoreq.375(V)where V.sub.DC represents a mean value per unit time of the developing bias and V.sub.D represents a charged potential of the image bearing member.

The conveyor rotates to convey the toner in a longitudinal direction of the groove. The agitator vibrates through contact with the conveyor and includes comb-tooth portions lined in a comb shape in the longitudinal direction of the groove, and bent portions, each of which is bent from an end of one of the comb-tooth portions. The comb-tooth portions contact a circumference of the conveyor to vibrate. The bent portions are lined at intervals smaller than intervals on a base side of the comb-tooth portions.

摘要： A toner conveyance device includes a downward passage, a reciprocating member disposed in the downward passage, to move in a vertical direction in which the downward passage extends, a conveyance passage communicating with a lower end of the downward passage and extending in a direction crossing the vertical direction, a conveyor to rotate in the conveyance passage around an axis extending along the conveyance passage to transport the toner, and a flexible member projecting from a bottom of the reciprocating member toward the conveyance passage. The flexible member extends in the axial direction of the conveyor and moves together with the reciprocating member. When the reciprocating member is at a lowest position, a lower end of the flexible member opposes a portion of the conveyor downstream from an upper end thereof in a rotation direction thereof.
