Abstract:
Presented is a method and system for navigating web sites. The method includes organizing web sites accessed by a user into a plurality of groups and generating a radio-like interface for selecting at least one web site from the web sites organized into the plurality of groups.
Abstract:
A method of analyzing the capacity of a computer system is described. The system is measured to obtain a datum population value N1. A maximum population value N2 is calculated using queuing theory modeling. The maximum population N2 is indicative of a maximum population that the system can sustain whilst satisfying a predetermined Service Level Agreement (SLA). A capacity map is then displayed to illustrate the ratio N1/N2. The capacity map shows the used and remaining capacity in relation to a given SLA.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and computer program product of determining the relevance of at least a part of an electronic document comprising a plurality of terms distributed over a plurality of regions of said document, comprising displaying the electronic document to a user; determining the gaze characteristics of the person on a region of the electronic document; assigning a relevance score to an individual term in said region based on said characteristics; and generating a term relevance label for said electronic document, said term relevance label comprising relevance scores for the respective individual terms in said document The relevance scores may also be used to define a user profile for the user that can aid in retrieving future documents of relevance to the user.
Abstract:
Presented is a computer implemented method and system for creating a profiled social network. The method includes mapping at least one identity to each node in the plurality of nodes, defining a profile for each node in the plurality of nodes, identifying a relationship between the at least two nodes in the plurality of nodes, defining a profile for the relationship between the at least two nodes in the plurality of nodes, and forming a collection of profiles defined for all relationships between the plurality of nodes.
Abstract:
A system and method for method for implementing a discounted printing is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for implementing discounted printing includes creating a sponsored document including a digital signature using a cryptographic protocol provided in an application by an enterprise, sending the sponsored document including the digital signature to a client computing system including a sponsored printer for printing by the enterprise, dynamically verifying the digital signature by a trusted service provider upon the enterprise sending the sponsored document to the sponsored printer, and printing the sponsored document by the sponsored printer upon a successful verification of the digital signature. The method may also include crediting an end user associated with the sponsored printer by an amount that substantially subsidizes cost associated with the printing of the sponsored document.

Abstract:
A system measures interest levels of audience in a broadcast program and provides extra information based on the interest level. The system receives an AV signal of a broadcast program and supplementary content which contains broadcast program related information and a tag identifying the broadcast program. The supplementary content is combined with the AV signal to form a data-augmented signal which is subsequently modulated with a carrier signal to form a transmit signal for broadcasting to receivers. Each receiver extracts the supplementary content, computes interest levels and provides extra information based on the interest levels.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for joint profiling for identifying one or more common interests of members of a group and recommending items accordingly. The method comprises receiving a user profile for each member, the user profile comprising a set of one or more topics of interest to that member; automatically mapping at least one topic from each of the profiles to a concept; deriving a group profile, in dependence upon the concepts and the topics; and generating a list of recommended items for the group based on the group profile. Also presented is a method and apparatus for joint profiling wherein a joint weight for each topic is calculated by: for each user, calculating the reciprocal of a weight associated with the topic for that user; calculating the sum of the resulting reciprocals; and calculating the joint weight as the reciprocal of the resulting sum.
Abstract:
Provided is a method to enable an image slideshow based on gaze of a user. The method displays an image to a user for viewing, wherein, invisible to the user, each image is divided into a grid of tiles. While the user is viewing the image, the method detects the gaze of the user to identify regions of the image that are of interest to the user. The identified regions of interest are mapped to the grid of tiles on the image, to recognize tiles of interest to the user. The tiles of interest for the image are calculated and another image is presented to the user for viewing when the number of tiles of interest exceeds a threshold value previously computed for the user.
Abstract:
A method of distributing load amongst two or more computer system resources. The method includes distributing load to the system resources in accordance with their modeled response times and a predetermined Service level Agreement (SLA) associated with each system resource. By modeling the response time of each resource, load can be distributed with a view to maintaining response times within a predetermined Service level Agreement (SLA). The response time may be modeled by analytical modeling, which uses a queuing network model for predicting the response time, typically along with other parameters such as, utilization, throughput and queue length.
