A display apparatus and method in which a current ripple is decreased to improve characteristics of a display apparatus are provided. A display apparatus comprises a light source, a plurality of driving power units providing driving electric powers to the light source, and a controller controlling the plurality of the driving power units so that electric currents of the driving electric powers provided from the respective driving power units have a predetermined phase difference from each other.
Abstract:
A power supply unit is provided. The power supply unit comprises a capacitor, a power input unit supplying power to the capacitor, a temperature sensor which is incorporated into the capacitor and senses a temperature of the capacitor, and a power control unit controlling a power path supplying power from the power input unit to the capacitor based on the sensed result of the temperature sensor. The power supply unit can be used continuously by shutting off a supply of power to protect an internal circuit of a capacitor in case of the abrupt increase in internal temperature of the capacitor.
Abstract:
Provided is a display apparatus that includes a light source, that further includes a current generator for outputting a predetermined driving current. Further provided is a first path for supplying the driving current output by the current generator to the light source and a second path for intercepting the driving current supplied to the light source. In addition, a switch is provided for supplying the driving current output by the current generator either to the first path or to the second path and a controller is provided for controlling the switch to supply the driving current output by the current generator to the first path while the light source is turned on, and to supply the driving current to the second path while the light source is turned off. Thus, the present invention provides a display apparatus which improves a response time of electrical current when a light source is turned on and off, and thereby improves display quality.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an image misconvergence correction apparatus having a correction value generation unit for calculating a convergence correction value to correct misconvergence occurring when a video signal is scanned on a display device; an amplification unit for performing D-class amplification with respect to the convergence correction value; a convergence yoke mounted in the display device to control a path of electron beams corresponding to the video signal based on the convergence correction value amplified in the amplification unit; and a feedback sensing unit for differentially amplifying a voltage value for electric current passing through the convergence yoke, and feeding back the differentially amplified voltage value to the correction value generation unit. The misconvergence correction apparatus amplifies and outputs a convergence correction value through the D-class amplifier having excellent power consumption and heat generation characteristics, calculates the convergence correction value, and minimizes influence of switching noise outputted from the D-class amplifier.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a display apparatus comprising a light emitting element supplying light, and a switch to switch on and off power, which is supplied to the light emitting element. A comparing unit compares a predetermined first reference voltage and an output voltage which is proportional to a current applied to the light emitting element. A controller compares a comparison voltage output, which is a comparison result of the comparing unit and a predetermined second reference voltage, in order to control the switch to be switched on and off. Accordingly, the present invention provides a display apparatus and control method which precisely controls a size of a current applied to a light emitting element.
Abstract:
A surface light source unit, a liquid crystal display apparatus, and a method for reducing snaking and vibration of the positive column caused in the surface light source unit are provided. The surface light source unit includes at least one discharge space for emitting light, a first electrode positioned a distance apart from the center of one side of the discharge space for emitting current, and a second electrode positioned at a distance apart from the center of the other side of the discharge space for receiving the current emitted from the first electrode. The first electrode and the second electrode disposed at both sides of the discharge space arranged on the upper side of the surface light source unit are positioned at the upper side of the center of the discharge space. The first electrode and the second electrode positioned at both sides of the discharge space arranged on the lower side of the surface light source unit are positioned apart from the center of the discharge space. Therefore, snaking and the vibration of the positive column are reduced. A black portion generated in the upper and lower side of the conventional surface light source unit is also reduced.

Abstract:
A display apparatus is provided to operate a light emitting unit with a small number of power drivers. The display apparatus has a plurality of light emitting units, a power driver, whose total provided therein is less than the total of light emitting units, that outputs driving power to the light emitting units. A power switch is switched on and off to supply the driving power to one of the plurality of light emitting units, and a controller controls the power switch to sequentially supply the driving power to the plurality of light emitting units.
