    Abstract: A reusable case for packing, storing, transporting and/or charging an outdoor power equipment is discussed, along with outdoor power equipment configured to be stored within the case. One example embodiment comprises a case for storing outdoor power equipment, comprising: a top portion; and a bottom portion movably connected to the top portion, wherein the bottom portion has one or more openings to allow one or more wheels of an outdoor power equipment to protrude through the one or more openings; wherein the top portion and the bottom portion are configured to substantially enclose the outdoor power equipment in a closed configuration.

    Abstract: A turf maintenance apparatus having folding handles facilitating compact storage is presented herein. The folding handles can be compressed or extended to adjust overall length and can rotate between an extended operator position and a folded storage position. Depending on implementation, the folding handles can be locked in the folded storage position and can also lock in the extended operator position. One or more operator presence devices can disable operation of a motor or engine when deactivated. A first operator presence device can deactivate operation of the motor or engine when the folding handles are not locked in the extended operator position, and a second operator presence device can deactivate operation of the motor or engine absent an operator maintaining activation of the second operator presence device.

    Abstract: A demarcating system for indicating the boundary of an area to an object (for example a robot, such as a robotic lawnmower), which has a receiver for receiving electromagnetic signals. The system includes a control system, a wire loop, a signal generator, and current sensing circuitry. The wire loop can be arranged by a user along a path, so as to indicate the path to the object as part of a boundary of the area. The signal generator is electrically connected to the wire loop in order to apply voltage signals thereto, such signals causing the emission of corresponding electromagnetic boundary indicating signals from the wire loop that may be received by the receiver of the object. The signal generator is under the control of the control system with the voltage signals applied by the signal generator to the wire loop being controlled by the control system. The current sensing circuitry senses current signals present within the wire loop and the processors of the control system analyse such current signals. The processors of the control system are programmed to operate in a calibration mode whereby they: cause the signal generator to apply a series of test voltage waveforms to the wire loop, each of the test voltage waveforms generating a corresponding current waveform within the wire loop; and analyse the series of corresponding current waveforms, as sensed by the current sensing circuitry, so as to determine an operating voltage waveform that, when applied to the wire loop, generates a corresponding operating current waveform that is substantially the same shape as a predetermined current waveform.

    Abstract: A removably attached operator control unit for controlling operation of an outdoor power equipment machine includes an operator control unit housing, a first joystick and a second joystick extending from an upper housing portion, the first and second joysticks being configured to communicate control actions to a control circuit of the operator control unit, and at least one switch configured to communicate control actions to the control circuit, wherein the control circuit is operable to receive control actions resulting from actuations of the joysticks, and switch and to communicate utilizing an interface arranged between the operator control unit and the outdoor power equipment machine, and when secured to the outdoor power equipment machine, the operator control unit is located at a height that is within about an arm's length or less of an operator standing immediately adjacent to the outdoor power equipment machine.

    Abstract: An obstruction sensing system for an autonomous device can include a chassis including a drive system for movement relative to a working surface, a shell resiliently mounted to the chassis and movable relative to the chassis in response to a force applied to the shell, a sensor assembly comprising a single sensor disposed on the chassis and a magnet disposed on and movable with the shell in response to the force applied to the shell, wherein the sensor is configured to output a three-axis magnetic flux vector in response to a movement of the magnet. A sensing method for an autonomous device can include detecting a polarity change in the sensor and in response determining that an obstruction has been detected, evaluating, by a processing component, a three-axis magnetic flux vector, and calculating at least one of a direction and a magnitude of a deflection based on the evaluation.

The passive cleaning assembly can be moveably mounted on the housing.     Abstract: Provided is a snow thrower impeller assembly (24) that defines a mounting slot (84) for a wiper (70). The wiper includes a wiper portion (86) that slides into the mounting slot to mount the wiper to the impeller (54). The wiper contacts an interior wall (56) of an associated impeller housing during rotational operation of the impeller in order to limit a gap (74) between an impeller blade (66) and the interior wall. The wiper can move radially inward and outward to remain in contact with the interior wall without input from the operator. Another embodiment of the impeller assembly includes impeller blades with a first portion (116) and a second portion (118). The second portion extends at a non-zero angle from the first blade portion of the impeller blade. Methods of improving the efficiency of the snow thrower are also provided.
