Abstract:
A filtering pan apparatus for filtering solids out of fluid being removed by a vacuum system includes a base and a duct being coupled to and extending upwardly from the base. The duct has an inlet opening and an outlet opening extending into the duct, with the inlet opening being positioned adjacent to the base. A vacuum connector is coupled to and extends away from the duct and is in fluid communication with the outlet opening. The vacuum connector has a connector opening in a distal end thereof relative to the duct which extends into the vacuum connector. A filtering screen is coupled to and extends upwardly from the base. The filtering screen covers the inlet opening and is liquid permeable.
Abstract:
A threaded implant can be provided with an elongated main body having external threads configured to thread into bone, and an internal support structure located within the external threads. The internal support structure has a helical arrangement that extends in an opposite direction to the external threads. Other threaded implants and methods are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to bone implants. More specifically, the present invention relates to bone implants used for the fixation or fusion of the sacroiliac joint and/or the spine. For example, a system for fusing or stabilizing a plurality of bones is provided. The system includes an implant structure having stem portion and a head portion, the stem portion having a rectilinear cross sectional area. A tulip or saddle structure can be attached to the head portion, and a rod can be secured within the tulip or saddle structure.
Abstract:
Assemblies of one or more implant structures make possible the achievement of diverse interventions involving the fusion and/or stabilization of lumbar and sacral vertebra in a non-invasive manner, with minimal incision, and without the necessitating the removing the intervertebral disc. The representative lumbar spine interventions, which can be performed on adults or children, include, but are not limited to, translaminar lumbar fusion and lumbar facet fusion involving a curved implant structure.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are tools, systems, methods and surgical techniques for a disposable grasping, cutting, severing and/or biting surgical instrument having sharp cutting tips. Such instruments are lighter than their equivalent stainless steel instruments currently being used, and can be designed to employ a shearing/cutting or grasping mechanism that may be suited for specific cutting and sampling bone, cartilage and soft tissue. The surgical instrument includes a slideable upper body that may have an overmolded or removably connected cutting tip assembled onto an advancing face that translates along the handle body to produce a shearing, cutting or grasping action of tissue positioned within the jaws.
Abstract:
A bone plate assembly is disclosed which includes at least one plate segment having at least one aperture extending therethrough for receiving a head portion of a bone screw, and a structure supported by the plate segment and intersecting the aperture for retaining the head portion of the bone screw with respect to the plate segment.
Abstract:
This application relates generally to impactors. More specifically, this application relates to impactors used in medical procedures such as bone fixation or fusion. In some embodiments, the impactors include features that prevent or reduce the likelihood of over-insertion of an implant within a bone cavity.
Abstract:
The disclosure describes devices for separating a first tissue from a second tissue at a surgical site, comprising, a hollow body having a distal end and a proximal end, wherein the distal end further comprises an upper separation member extendable laterally from hollow body at a first angle; an inner member slidably disposed within the hollow body, wherein the distal end of the inner member has a lower separation member extendable laterally from inner member at a second angle, wherein the upper separation member and the lower separation member have a first configuration and a second configuration into a tissue in the working zone on the first lateral side of the median plane. Additionally, methods for using the device and kits containing the device are disclosed.
Abstract:
A kit contains a receptacle for receiving components of a bone filling material in an unmixed condition. The kit also contains a base sized and configured to support the receptacle an upright condition during use and also being sized and configured for resisting tipping of the receptacle during use. The kits contains a mixing element sized and configured for insertion into the receptacle while the base supports the receptacle in the upright condition, to mix the components of the bone filling material within the receptacle. The mixing element is also sized for withdrawal from the receptacle after mixing of the components. The kits contains a plunger element sized and configured for insertion, after withdrawal of the mixing element means, into the receptacle for advancement through the receptacle, to dispense the mixed components of the bone filling material from the receptacle while the base supports the receptacle in the upright condition. The bone filling material can be dispensed, e.g., into a bone filler device.
