Abstract:
The present invention enables music performers and sound engineers to perform collaboratively over a data network such as the internet. Each musician creates musical signals which are processed at two points: Signals are processed at a central server to produce a mix, which mix is subsequently distributed to all participants; Signals are additionally processed at each musician's location whereby each musician's track is removed from the mix and replaced with a local, low-latency version of said musician's track. In this way, musicians play to a real-time mix that satisfies the strict requirements for low delay. Using records of each musician's tracks kept at the server, musicians or sound engineers can post-process the tracks to create one or more master mixes in which delays are eliminated entirely and tracks are synchronized.
Abstract:
A system and method for transmitting data over a channel, in which the data are categorized in at least two different categories. For example, the data are categorized according to the effect on perceived degradation on the data when error mitigation is performed on the data. Corrupted data of the first category are replaced using a first replacement method, such as retransmission and forward error correction. The corrupted data of the second category are replaced using a second replacement method different from the first replacement method, e.g., error mitigation or interpolation.
Abstract:
A safety garment with integrated earplugs designed to provide both hearing protection and high-visibility in a single garment. The safety garment with integrated earplugs includes a garment, such as a vest or sweatshirt, designed to enclose a user's torso, with a neck aperture along a top end designed to receive a head and neck therethrough and a pair of arm apertures on opposing sides, with each arm aperture designed to receive an arm therethrough. A reflective material is disposed along an exterior surface of the garment, such that the garment qualifies as a high-visibility safety garment. Additionally, a cord having a pair of opposing ends is affixed to the garment and an earplug is affixed to each end of the cord. In this way, a user is able to wear a single garment that provides both high visibility to the user and has hearing protection attached.
