Abstract:
The invention relates to a novel purified recombinant αVβ3 adhesion receptor which shows an unimpaired ligand binding activity, and a process for preparing said soluble non-membrane bound receptor in excellent yields by recombinant techniques using a baculovirus-insect cell expression system. The so-synthesized soluble receptor may be used very easily as screening tool for new therapeutic compounds which may inhibit the natural αVβ3 adhesion receptor. Such therapeutic compounds which can be discovered very easily, fast and without health risk by means of the soluble receptors according to the invention may be, for example, RGD peptides or non-peptidic compounds mimicking the natural ligand epitopes. The invention relates, furthermore, to a corresponding process for preparing recombinant full-length αVβ3 adhesion receptor in excellent yields, additionally using detergents to dissolve the membrane bound receptor from the surface of the host cell.
Abstract:
A foaming root destroyer is provided that utilizes a combination of herbicides and bacteria to inhibit and destroy the roots and fine root hairs intruding into underground discharge waste pipe systems. Furthermore, the foaming root destroyer can work over a longer period of time providing an enzymatic process to degrade and eliminate the dead root mass in the sewer line.
Abstract:
A joint assembly for joining a tubular B-pillar to a tubular roof rail. The joint assembly includes an inner bracket plate and an outer bracket plate that are welded to each other around the roof rail and B-pillar. The outer bracket plate extends across the B-pillar, over the roof rail, and laterally inwardly from the roof rail to provide an attachment surface for a roof support bow.
Abstract:
A joint assembly for joining a tubular B-pillar to a tubular roof rail. The joint assembly includes an inner bracket plate and an outer bracket plate that are welded to each other around the roof rail and B-pillar. A flange of the roof rail is received in a slot formed in an upper end of the B-pillar.
Abstract:
A one-piece B-pillar having a front flange and a rear flange formed on an upper portion of the B-pillar. The front and rear flanges extend forwardly and rearwardly from a trapezoidal section of the B-pillar. An inner concave portion is provided in a lower portion of the B-pillar. The one-piece B-pillar is secured to the outer and upper surfaces of a roof rail and to the outer surface of a rocker to provide side impact strength. The B-pillar is hydroformed in one-piece to provide superior strength for roof crush performance. The tubular portion of the B-pillar is partially collapsed to form a trapezoidal section in the upper portion of the B-pillar.
Abstract:
Microencapsulated and/or enteric coated compositions containing a mixture of probiotics, prebiotics and ammoniaphilic bacteria with high urease activity with or without sorbents with specific adsorption affinities for uremic toxins such as creatinine, uric acid, phenols, indoles, middle molecular weight molecules and inorganic phosphate and water absorbents are provided. Also provided are methods of alleviating symptoms of uremia in a patient which comprises administering orally to a patient suffering from uremia a microencapsulated and/or enteric-coated composition.
