Abstract:
In the liquid treatment of cellulosic pulp by a procedure comprising passing a column of a slurry of the pulp to be treated through a cylindrical vessel, in one direction, and forcing a treating liquid through the column, in a direction transverse to the major axis of the column, from a delivery space for such treating liquid toward a collection vessel for used treating liquid, said collection vessel having a pervious wall immediately adjacent said column on that side thereof remote from said delivery space, it is desirable-in the interest of preventing clogging of the pervious wall-intermittently to interrupt inflow of liquid into said vessel by pressure variations induced by a gaseous fluid discharged under pressure adjacent said pervious wall.
Abstract:
An arrangement in machines for manufacturing carton blanks, said machines being of the type in which the carton sheets are fed intermittently therethrough and are passed from a magazine to a conveying means by means of a reciprocating feed means, wherein the feed means are individually journalled on a support surface and constructed in he form of a feed stand and provided with means by which the feed means can be quickly and reliably adjusted to the different sizes of carton sheet material passing through the machine.
Abstract:
In an apparatus for counting rod-like objects including a separation device and a device for indicating the number of objects, separation of the rods is effected by advancing them in steps via a feed wheel and a counting wheel, in such a manner, that only one rod at a time passes the indication device, irrespective of the location of the rods on the conveying web for feeding the rods. Owing to the vibrations propagated along the rods by the stepped feed, the rods are separated from one another along their entire length.
Abstract:
Apparatus for disintegrating and bleaching a cellulose pulp which is delivered into a bleaching vessel while in a compacted state and is disintegrated by means creating a whirling effect at the top of the bleaching vessel in the presence of a gaseous bleaching agent and is distributed onto a column of disintegrated pulp in the vessel and is then removed therefrom.
Abstract:
An improvement in apparatus for screening aqueous suspensions and being of the type having a perforated, diluting-liquid cylinder adapted to rotate inside a co-axial, perforated, nonrotatable screening drum, and with which means are provided for supplying diluting liquid and suspension mixtures to the cylinder and drum respectively, the improvement being that the means which causes the diluting cylinder to rotate is at least partially enclosed by the means supplying said liquid to the cylinder and that means are provided for imparting to the liquid, prior to its entry into said cylinder, a determined speed of rotation, thereby preventing uneven distribution in the apparatus of the suspended material.
Abstract:
Apparatus for washing a suspension of a fibrous material as it passes through a container in which a washing liquid is passed from a supply chamber having a perforate wall into and through the suspension and then into a collecting chamber. Means are provided for interrupting the influx of washing liquid into the collecting chamber at suitable intervals by pressure variations in the liquid.
