Abstract: A method of forming an orthodontic aligner from an aligner digital model, the method comprising the steps of: (a) three-dimensionally printing an intermediate structure comprising fused filaments from a biocompatible thermoplastic according to the aligner digital model via fused deposition modelling; (b) coating the intermediate structure with a biocompatible translucent photopolymer; and (c) irradiating the coating with ultraviolet light to cure the coating on the intermediate structure, thereby forming the orthodontic aligner.

Abstract: A device comprising; a controller arranged to receive data for an article to print; a sub-device comprising a resin source arranged to provide material for printing the article; a radiation source arranged to direct radiation for the printing of said article; a plurality of stations, said stations including a printing tank in which the article is printed, at least one cleaning station for cleaning the printed article and a curing station arranged to at least partially complete the curing of the printed article; a build surface upon which the article is arranged to be printed; wherein controller is arranged to move the build surface and the plurality of stations relative to each other.

Abstract: Disclosed is an additive manufacturing device, comprising: a vessel for containing a material which is polymerisable on exposure to radiation; a build platform having a build surface, the build platform being mounted or mountable for movement relative to the vessel; and a programmable radiation module comprising an array of individually addressable radiation emitting or transmitting elements, the array being configurable to produce radiation having a predetermined pattern by selective activation of elements of the array; wherein the programmable radiation module is positioned or positionable to irradiate uncured material adjacent the build surface, or adjacent a previously cured structure on the build surface, with the predetermined pattern without magnification. Also disclosed is an additive manufacturing method which employs the additive manufacturing device.

Abstract: An additive manufacturing device has a vessel for containing a polymerizable material, a build platform and a curing unit. The vessel has a flexible wall which is at least partially transparent to radiation at one or more wavelengths at which the material is polymerizable. The build platform is movable relative to the vessel to position a build surface thereof to face the flexible wall. The curing unit has a rigid component with a planar contact surface, the rigid component being at least partially transparent to radiation at the one or more curing wavelengths, and a radiation module positioned to emit radiation through the rigid component. The rigid component and the vessel are movable relative to each other. In a first position, the planar contact surface of the rigid component is in contact with the flexible wall, and in a second position, the rigid component is separated therefrom.
