Abstract: A mixer comprises a first subassembly including a first holder fixed to a first mixing element. The first holder includes a base interconnecting a first sidewall with a spaced apart second sidewall. The first mixing element includes a base interconnecting first and second spaced apart mounting flanges that are fixed to the first and second sidewalls. A second subassembly includes a second holder fixed to a second mixing element. The second holder includes a base interconnecting a third sidewall with a spaced apart fourth sidewall. The second mixing element including a base interconnecting third and fourth spaced apart mounting flanges that are fixed to the third and fourth sidewalls. Distal ends of the first sidewall and the third sidewall are fixed to one another. Distal ends of the second sidewall and the fourth sidewall are fixed to one another.

Abstract: A vehicle exhaust system includes a tubular component having an inner surface and an outer surface such that the inner surface defines a primary exhaust gas flow path. The tubular component extends along a central axis from an inlet end to an outlet end. The tubular component includes at least one ridge extending at least partly along a circumference of the tubular component. The at least one ridge includes a first portion angularly extending inwardly from the tubular component, and a second portion disposed downstream of the first portion. The second portion angularly extends inwardly from the tubular component. In some cases, the second portion defines a plurality of openings extending therethrough and spaced apart from each other. In some cases, the tubular component defines a plurality of tube openings disposed downstream of the at least one ridge.

Abstract: A damper with inner and outer tubes and a piston slidably disposed within the inner tube to define first and second working chambers. A collector chamber is positioned outside the outer tube. An external control valve is positioned in fluid communication with the collector chamber. An intake valve assembly, mounted to one end of the inner tube, includes an intake valve body, intake passages, and intake valve. The intake valve body abuts the outer tube to define an accumulation chamber positioned between the intake valve assembly and a closed end of the outer tube. The accumulation chamber is arranged in fluid communication with the collector chamber. The intake valve body forms a fluid-tight partition between the accumulation chamber and a fluid transport chamber is positioned between the inner and outer tubes. The intake valve controls fluid flow between the accumulation chamber and the second working chamber through the intake passages.

The core layer has a first composition. The first layer is a cold-sprayed layer. The core layer has a second composition different from the first composition. The first layer reduces surface-radiated noise from the exhaust component during operation of the motor vehicle. The internal volume is at least partially defined by the wall. The inlet is in fluid communication with the internal volume. The outlet is in fluid communication with the internal volume.

Abstract: A valve assembly for an exhaust system of a vehicle. The valve assembly includes a housing, a valve flap and a mass damper. The housing defines an inlet, an outlet, and a longitudinally extending exhaust gas passageway in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet. The valve flap is disposed in the housing and is rotatable between a first position restricting exhaust gas flow through the exhaust gas passageway, and a second position whereat exhaust gas flow through the exhaust gas passageway is less restricted. The mass damper is disposed within the exhaust gas passageway. The mass damper is attached to the valve flap and comprise of a material having a high density. The mass damper is shielded from the exhaust gas flowing through the exhaust gas passageway when the valve flap is in the second position.

The spring is disposed in the compartment and out of the exhaust gas passageway. The spring engages the valve flap to bias the valve flap toward the first position.

Abstract: A damper includes a pressure tube defining a first end and a second end opposite to the first end. The pressure tube includes a primary section extending from the first end and a reduced-diameter section extending from the second end. The damper includes a primary piston slidably disposed within the pressure tube. The primary piston defines a rebound chamber and a compression chamber within the pressure tube. The damper further includes a secondary piston movable with the primary piston. The damper includes a sleeve connected to the pressure tube and surrounding the reduced-diameter section. The damper also includes a base valve. The pressure tube and the sleeve define an intermediate chamber therebetween. The pressure tube further defines at least one tube opening to fluidly communicate the compression chamber with the intermediate chamber.
