Abstract: Disclosed is a method of characterizing a subsurface volume. The method comprises: extracting a geobody from seismic data arranged within a discretized volume comprising a plurality of cells, the geobody comprising a subset of the plurality of cells, each cell of the subset having one or more properties indicative of a particular fluid phase. The extraction of the geobody comprises: determining a propagation probability value for each cell indicative of the probability that a front will propagate through the cell; beginning from a source within the discretized volume, using the propagation probability value to calculate a traveltime for each cell, the travel time describing the time the front takes to travel from the source point to the cell; and using the traveltimes to extract the geobody from the seismic data.

Abstract: The present invention relates to method for assessing the H2S release capacity of a liquid sample containing one or more sulfur compounds which are able to be degraded into gaseous H2S with temperature. The method comprising: a) Placing a volume of the liquid sample in a purge vessel so as to obtain a liquid phase and a gaseous phase in a flask; b) Purging the gaseous phase with an inert gas stream for a determined period of time; e) Passing the purged gaseous phase through a H2S trap; d) Recovering H2S from the H2S trap; and e) Dosing the recovered H2S. The invention is also used in a method for selecting a liquid sample, in particular among a group of different liquid samples.

Abstract: A method and a device for determining geological facies in subsoil for oil and gas exploration. The method determines a combined proportion cube from a first meshed proportion cube and a second meshed proportion cube. The invention combines some facies models giving vertical probabilities and some facies models giving horizontal probabilities. This determination is particularly efficient in the presence of a zero probability in one of these models and is capable of respecting the mathematical constraint according to which the sum of each row and each column in the final proportion model must be equal to a predetermined maximum value.
