Abstract:
An apparatus and method for inserting taped resistors of the type having at least two leads and like components into printed circuit boards. The apparatus comprises a feed mechanism utilizing a rotating feed wheel which in the method places components into engagement with the jaws of an insertion head whereupon the insertion head cuts the component from the tape and carries the component down to a position directly over its insertion position on the circuit board and a pusher rod forces the component or resistor down into the circuit board as the jaws separate.
Abstract:
A machine for receiving unprocessed electrical components from a feed mechanism, straightening the leads, forming the leads of the components by bending them in opposite directions within the same plane, feeding the components with their formed leads onto the adhesive side of two tapes mounted on taping wheels, the oppositely bent leads contacting separate taping wheels, applying second covering tapes to seal the leads between the adhesive surfaces of the tapes and winding the taped components onto a drum.
Abstract:
An apparatus for removing electrical components from their manufacturing strip and taping them to form a continuous sequential group of components. The components are extracted as a group from a plurality of supply stations by a plurality of spindles and transported to a taping unit. The taping unit is driven by the linear movement of the spindle carriage and includes a take-up reel to receive the sequentially taped components.
Abstract:
A semi-automatic assembly machine for manually inserted electronic components having a control for positioning the workpiece, identifying the component to be used from a plurality of component bins, and indicating the location on the workpiece where the component is to be inserted and its proper orientation. After the manual insertion of the component into the workpiece, a hold-down assembly secures the component to the workpiece and a control is activated to automatically cut and clinch the component lead ends.
