According to the storage control device of the present invention, individual cooling passages are formed for each region in the enclosure and the respective cooling passages are formed bent so as to bypass the connection substrate. As a result, the interior of the enclosure is cooled efficiently. The interior of the enclosure is divided in the front-rear direction by the connection substrate. Logic substrates and battery devices are provided on the front side of the connection substrate and logic substrates and power supply devices are provided on the rear side of the connection substrate. The battery devices and power supply devices located on the left and right sides of the enclosure are each cooled by means of individual cooling passages. The logic substrates are cooled by means of different cooling passages.

Aligned disk drives are installed in a disk box nearly taking a rectangular shape. Every two of the disk boxes are paired and accommodated in a rack in a multi-stage form. Each pair of disk boxes are disposed with their exhaust planes opposed to each other with a gap therebetween. An air intake plane of each disk box opposite to the exhaust is disposed on a front or rear side of the rack. A draft path, having front and rear walls formed by gaps between disk boxes and side walls on left and right planes of the rack, is formed in the rack center. Exhaust fans disposed on top of the rack and having air intake ports nearly equivalent in dimension to a section of the draft path suck in air through the intake and exhaust planes and draft path, and exhaust the air outside the rack.

The communication cables include a transmission medium through which to transmit data, a first conductor having electrical conductivity and surrounding the transmission medium, a second conductor having electrical conductivity and surrounding the first conductor, and a covering surrounding the second conductor. The first conductor is connected to ground potential supply circuits provided in at least either disk control parts or relay parts, and the second conductor is connected to at least one of the first and second racks.
