Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for ring-shaped devices with combined Bluetooth and NFC antenna assemblies. In one embodiment, an example device may include an inner shell, an outer shell coupled to the inner shell, where the outer shell and inner shell together form a first side portion, a second side portion, and a lower portion of the ring-shaped device, a battery, and an antenna assembly that forms an upper portion of the ring-shaped device. The antenna assembly may include a metal substrate, a ferrite layer disposed on the metal substrate, and a metallic loop structure disposed on the ferrite layer.

Abstract: A location marker that may be used to provide information to a vehicle, such as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The location marker may include a plurality of lights that may be individually sequenced on and off at different times to create a time domain signal sequence that is readable by the vehicle. The lights may provide information in various different ways. The specific lights that are illuminated at a certain time may form a light pattern that includes or is associated with information. Different light patterns may be displayed over time to provide different information to the vehicle. In some embodiments, the amount of time that a light is on or off (or both) may provide information as a time domain signal sequence (e.g., flashing lights) to the vehicle. In various embodiments, the location marker may include retroreflectors arranged in a pattern used to identify the location marker.

Abstract: A location marker that may be used to provide information to a vehicle, such as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The location marker may include a plurality of retroreflectors that may form a pattern readable by a vehicle or other device. The pattern may be read to extract an identifier of a location, such as an address or an identifier of a person. A global positioning system (GPS) device may transmit a general location of the location marker to the vehicle, while the location marker may provide a unique visual location identifier to a device within visual range of the location marker. In some embodiments, the location marker may also include lights that may be individually sequenced on and off at different times to create a time domain signal sequence that is readable by the vehicle.

Abstract: A system for detecting transparent elements in a vehicle environment are described. In some examples, this may include accessing an image of a scene captured by an image capture device attached to a vehicle. A reflected image present in the image may be detected. The reflected image may include a portion of the vehicle. It may be determined that the scene includes a transparent element based at least in part on detecting the reflected image present in the image.

Abstract: Temperature management systems for aerial vehicles may include heat pipes that are thermally connected to components that generate heat. The heat pipes may be routed through or adjacent to a propeller or propulsion airflow, or within or across a vehicle airflow, to dissipate heat from the components. A heat pipe may be selected from a plurality of heat pipes based on measured temperatures of components that generate heat, operational characteristics of the aerial vehicle and/or one or more propellers, and/or measured temperatures of other components that may be heated. Additional temperature management systems may include cool air ducts and cool air pipes that may be routed from a propeller or propulsion airflow, or a vehicle airflow, to components that generate heat or other components that may be cooled.

Abstract: Techniques for providing a verification of a flight path or landing zone may be provided. For example, during delivery an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) may capture one or more images of a plurality of delivery locations within an area. A computer system may generate one or more image templates or filters using the one or more images and subsequently use the image filters to verify a flight path or landing zone for a delivery by the UAV during flight.

Abstract: A system uses a barometer to determine both a user interface event and a change in elevation. Portable devices are often limited by space to provide a user with features that make a product useful. The system uses the barometer to measure air pressure within a cavity of a housing of a wearable device. The cavity is enclosed by a cover that appears as a physical button. The cover is attached to the housing by a flexible seal that allows the cover to move in response to changes in air pressure or physical touch. If movement of the cover causes a change in air pressure in the cavity beyond a threshold, the change is interpreted to be a user input event. Otherwise, the change in air pressure is determined to be a change in altitude. Using a barometer to determine user input allows for a compact wearable device.
