    摘要: The invention provides a liquid composition when used for maintenance of a body of water, the liquid composition comprising a solution of magnesium and potassium salts, at least one of which is a halide salt. Preferably, the liquid composition comprises Mg2+ from the magnesium salt in an amount of from about 6000 ppm to about 15 000 ppm; K+ from the potassium salt in an amount from about 40 000 ppm to about 120 000 ppm and hypohalite from the halide in an amount from about 100 000 ppm to about 400 000 ppm.

A multi-port valve (50) is laterally mounted to the filter housing wherein an orbital control arm (54) of the multi-port valve may be moved in a substantially vertical plane to select alternative operations of the filtration unit. The unit may further include a top with space for electronic controls and/or chemicals.

    摘要: A filtration medium comprises a first grade of glass particles and a material suitable to form a water permeable retention layer. Preferably, the filtration medium comprises at least two grades of glass particles. The first grade is preferably distributed substantially over the range of 0.75 mm to 1.7 mm. The second grade is preferably substantially in the range of 1.7 mm to 3 mm. In a further aspect, a filter is described having a water permeable retention layer supporting a filtration medium substantially comprising the first grade of particles. The retention layer may comprise the second grade of glass.

    摘要: A method for sanitization of water in a swimming pool or the like comprises the steps of forming, in the pool water, an electrolyte solution containing from 1500 ppm to 9000 ppm of a soluble magnesium halide salt, treating the electrolyte solution in en electrolytic halogenation cell to form an aqueous solution of hypohalous acid and then returning the water so treated back to a swimming pool. A mixture of magnesium and potassium chlorides with small quantities of soluble alkaline earth metal bromide is particularly effective in the sanitization process.
