    摘要: An inter-system handover system for a wireless communication system supports hand-down and hand-up of user equipment (UE) to different radio access technologies, including synchronous and asynchronous systems. Latency and handover connection failures are reduced by an access node (nodeB) broadcasting information about neighboring systems (targets) when the UE reception (RX) capability is both inside or outside the reception range of the target. A single RX chain is sufficient, although transitioning between a wireless wide area network (WWAN) to a wireless local area network may (WLAN) may advantageously benefit from simultaneous operation on two Rx chains. Optimized list of neighboring RAT systems (targets) are broadcast from the network, including measurement parameters and reporting instructions. Thereby, UE-driven reporting minimizes latencies. UE reports other-system searches to network only if needed for a handover. In addition, handover requests can be bundled with other-system measurement information, if necessary, for additional efficiencies.

    摘要: Techniques to support fast state transition by a user equipment (UE) are described. The UE may operate in a first state (e.g., a CELL_PCH state) in which the UE does not transmit or receive user data. The UE may receive a paging message carrying first configuration information. The UE may transition from the first state to a second state (e.g., a CELL_DCH state) in response to receiving the paging message. The UE may determine a set of communication parameters based on the first configuration information received from the paging message and second configuration information stored at the UE. The UE may then exchange user data based on the set of communication parameters. The UE may use default values for some parameters in order to reduce the amount of first configuration information to send in the paging message.

    摘要: Techniques for performing handover in order to maintain call continuity for a user equipment (UE) are described. The UE may communicate with a first cell in a radio access network (RAN) for a packet-switched (PS) call, e.g., for Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) via High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) in W-CDMA. The UE may send measurement reports to the RAN and may receive trigger from the RAN. The UE may establish a circuit-switched (CS) call with the first cell while the PS call is pending at the first cell. The PS call and the CS call may be for a voice call, and the UE may switch data path for the voice call from the PS call to the CS call and then terminate the PS call. The UE may then perform handover of the CS call from the first cell to a second cell, which may not support VoIP.

In one design, a user equipment (UE) is configured with a base carrier and a dependent carrier linked to the base carrier. Data transmission on the dependent carrier is scheduled via a scheduling carrier, which is different from the dependent carrier. The UE receives a scheduling grant on the scheduling carrier and determines whether the scheduling grant is for the base carrier and/or the dependent carrier. The UE communicates (e.g., sends or receives data) on the base carrier and/or the dependent carrier based on the scheduling grant. The scheduling grant may be (i) a separate grant carrying scheduling information for only one carrier, (ii) a common grant carrying scheduling information for both carriers, (iii) a joint grant carrying separate scheduling information for each carrier, or (iv) a composite grant that may be a separate grant, a common grant, or a joint grant.

    摘要: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate paging for establishing a Voice Call Continuity (VCC)-supported voice call in a network containing access point(s) that can support packet switched (PS) voice communication, such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and access point(s) that can support only circuit switched (CS) voice communication. Paging signals as described herein are selectively delivered, such that a desired terminal receives a single PS paging signal if located at a VoIP-capable access point and a single CS paging signal otherwise. A split paging technique is described herein, wherein PS paging signals are delivered to VoIP-capable access points and CS paging signals are delivered to non-VoIP-capable access points substantially simultaneously. Additionally, a sequential paging technique is described herein, wherein PS paging signals are delivered to VoIP-capable access points and, if no response is received from a desired terminal, CS-domain paging is conducted.
