Abstract:
A computer-implemented media content optimization platform includes a media server programmed for receiving original media content comprising streaming media content and extracting audio and/or video data from the received streaming media content. A media processor of the platform is programmed for dividing the transmitted audio and/or video data media content into multiple audio component segments and multiple video component segments, applying at least one optimizing profile to at least the audio component segments of the streaming media content, and combining each of the video component segments with their corresponding optimized audio component segments to generate at least one optimized streaming media content segment.
Abstract:
A system for monitoring email and website behavior of an email recipient is provided. According to one exemplary embodiment, the system includes a mail enhancement server and a logging server. The mail enhancement server is configured to intercept all outgoing emails from a mail server. The mail enhancement server then modifies each outgoing email to include a tracking code. The tracking code is embedded in an image call which in turn is also inserted into the outgoing email. If the outgoing email contains hyperlinks, each hyperlink is also modified to include the tracking code. The tracking code is uniquely associated with the outgoing email. The image call (and the tracking code) is used to detect when the recipient of the outgoing email has opened that email. The tracking code, when embedded in a hyperlink, is also used to monitor whether the recipient has opened the email and/or clicked through on one or more of the hyperlinks in the email. The logging server associates a cookie with the recipient of the outgoing email. When the logging server receives an image call, the corresponding image and the cookie are concurrently delivered to the recipient. The cookie is used to monitor the behavior of the recipient at a website, regardless of how the recipient arrives at that website, be it through a click-through from the email or otherwise. The logging server is configured to capture and store relevant information relating to the outgoing email thereby allowing the sender of the outgoing email and the recipient to be linked and the behavior of the recipient to be monitored via the tracking code, the image call and the cookie.
Abstract:
An auto-stereoscopic display device comprises a plane viewing screen, a plane cathode, and a plane permanent magnet. A two dimensional array of rows and columns of channels extends between opposite poles of the magnet for receiving electrons from the cathode. A phosphor layer is disposed between the screen and the magnet and having a plurality of pixels each corresponding to a different channel. Grid electrode means is disposed between the cathode and the magnet for selectively controlling flow of electrons from the cathode through each channel to the corresponding pixel in response to input video data. Deflection anode means is disposed on the side of the magnet remote from the cathode for sequentially deflecting, orthogonally to the columns, each electron beam to different parts of the corresponding pixel in response to an input video clock signal. A lenticular lens array is disposed between the phosphor layer and the screen and having a plurality of cylindrical lenses each corresponding to a different column of pixels.
Abstract:
A display system comprises a display screen and drive means for scanning a picture onto the display screen in response to a video signal. Image scanning apparatus in the display system comprises photo-detection means optically coupled to the display screen for generating an image signal on detection of any light from the scanned picture reflected back into the display screen by an external article and subsequently internally reflected within the display screen. Storage means stores the image signal detected by the photo-detection means.
Abstract:
A method of forming an electron source having a cathode and a permanent magnet having perforated channels extending between opposite poles of the magnet. The perforated channel magnet is formed by pressing an array of pins into a moldable mass of powder confined in a mold, solidifying and magnetizing the molded mass. Electrodes may be provided at each end of the channels. Each channel forms electrons received from the cathode into an electron beam for guidance towards a target. The electron source has applications in a wide range of technologies, including display technology and printer technology.
Abstract:
Display apparatus comprises a display screen and drive means for generating an image on the display screen in response to a video signal input from an external video source. The drive means comprises gamma measurement means having a test signal generator for generating a test signal to produce a test image on the display screen, and output detection means for generating a sense signal as a function of the test image produced on the display screen.
Abstract:
An adaptor connection apparatus for a data processing system having at least first and second bus architectures and a guide for receiving first and second removable adaptors. Within the guide, first and second electrical contacts are provided for simultaneously connecting the first and second adaptors to the first and second bus architectures, respectively.
Abstract:
An electron source comprises cathode means and a permanent magnet. A plurality of channels disposed in the magnet in a two dimensional array of rows and columns and extending between opposite poles of the magnet. The magnet generates, in each channel, a magnetic field which forms electrons received from the cathode means into an electron beam for guidance towards a target. Grid electrode means are disposed between the cathode means and the magnet for controlling flow of electrons from the cathode means into each channel. The grid electrode means comprises a plurality of parallel row conductors and a plurality of parallel column conductors arranged orthogonally to the row conductors. Each channel is located at a different intersection of a row conductor and a column conductor. Electric field isolation means reduces leakage of electric fields from each intersection.
