Abstract: A scannable object is sensed and scanned. A map is constructed based on the scan results. The map is compared to one or more stored templates. Results of the comparison are provided. In some implementations, a secured processor may construct the map and may provide reduced resolution (and/or other versions that contain less information) versions of the map and/or the stored templates to one or more other processors. The one or more other processors may determine a match-set based on matching between the reduced resolution map and stored templates. The secured processor may then identify whether or not a match exists between the map and any stored template based on the match-set.

Abstract: A portable electronic device with a touch-sensitive display is disclosed. One aspect of the invention involves a computer-implemented method in which the portable electronic device: displays an application on the touch-sensitive display; and when the application is in a predefined mode, performs a predefined operation in response to each gesture of a set of multiple distinct gestures on the touch-sensitive display. Abstract: An electronic device, while displaying a user interface of a first software application, detects a first input, including a contact that does not satisfy a first threshold and is detected at a location associated with region of the user interface associated with at least a first operation. In response to the first input, if a first tactile output setting is active for the first input, the device performs the first operation without generating a tactile output, and if a second tactile output setting is active for the first input, the device forgoes performing the first operation. In response to a second input that includes a contact that satisfies the first intensity threshold and is detected at a location associated with the region of the user interface, if the second tactile output setting is active for the second input, the device performs the first operation and generates a tactile output.

Abstract: An electronic device with a front side including a touch-sensitive display, a back side that does not include a display, and sensor(s) to detect contact intensities on the front and back side displays, on the touch-sensitive display, a user interface including objects. While displaying the user interface, the device detects an input on a side of the electronic device. Abstract: A computer-implemented method for use in conjunction with a computing device with a touch screen display comprises: detecting one or more finger contacts with the touch screen display, applying one or more heuristics to the one or more finger contacts to determine a command for the device, and processing the command. Abstract: The present application is related to a computer for providing output to a user. The computer includes a processor and an input device in communication with the processor. The input device includes a feedback surface and at least one sensor in communication with the feedback surface, the at least one sensor configured to detect a user input to the feedback surface. The processor varies a down-stroke threshold based on a first factor and varies an up-stroke threshold based on a second factor. The down-stroke threshold determines a first output of the computing device, the up-stroke threshold determines a second output of the computing device, and at least one of the first factor or the second factor are determined based on the user input.
