Abstract: A water treatment insert for a pool skimmer system includes a chemical treatment portion separated from a mechanical filtration portion. The treatment device includes an upper portion and a lower portion. The upper section can include a vertical wall or walls, which should be substantially watertight so that substantially all the water entering the pool skimmer flows through the upper portion, and then into the lower section. The entire device is preferably received in the filter basket receiving section of a conventional pool skimmer, in place of the conventional filter basket. One of the upper and lower sections provides mechanical filtration and the other chemical treatment, to enhance the water treatment function of the skimmer.

Abstract: A filter apparatus includes a filter, such as a cartridge, positioned within a housing. The filter apparatus has multiple ports and valves, so as to allow a user to easily switch between a filtration mode of filtering fluids and a maintenance mode of cleaning the filter. The filter can have a filter substrate in a housing and after filtrate builds up on the substrate, the substrate can be cleaned by directing a spray of fluid, such as from a ring of nozzles at the top of the housing, onto the substrate. A maintenance port can be provided to drain the debris washed from the substrate. The filter can switch between a backwash mode and a filtration mode.

Abstract: A two-speed motor is mounted in a housing with an end cap. The end cap has a tubular structure defining an interior space, including an open first end connectable to the motor casing. The second end includes at least one planar surface and at least one air grate configured to permit airflow into and/or out of the interior space. A dual speed pump controller includes a motor controller for operating the dual speed motor. The controller includes an operating speed circuit for operating the motor in one of a first speed or a second speed, the first speed being greater than the second speed; an event circuit for operating the motor at the first speed before a predetermined event and operating the pump at the second speed after the predetermined event.

Abstract: A water bonding fixture is provided herein which includes a shaft and a plurality of electrically conductive plates disposed at one end of the shaft and spaced apart from each other so as to provide a gap between adjacent plates. Each electrically conductive plate defines two planar surfaces each of which are substantially exposed and each electrically conductive plate is electrically connected to each other electrically conductive plate to provide a surface area of conductive surface approximately equal to the exposed surface area of all of the electrically conductive plates.
