Abstract: According to an aspect, an implantable device includes a fluid reservoir configured to be implanted in a body of a patient at a first location, an inflatable member configured to be implanted in the body of the patient at a second location, and a pump assembly configured to be implanted in the body of the patient at a third location. The pump assembly is configured to transfer fluid from the fluid reservoir to the inflatable member in response to the implantable device being in an inflation mode, and the pump assembly configured to transfer the fluid from the inflatable member to the fluid reservoir in response to the implantable device being in a deflation mode. The pump assembly includes an electronic control module, an electronically powered pump, a first valve, and a second valve. The electronic control module is configured to activate or deactivate the electronically powered pump.

Abstract: An implantable medical device is disclosed. The implantable medical device includes a housing forming an internal compartment. Electronic components are disposed within the internal compartment. An interface system receives power signals, wireless electrical communication signals, or both. An elongated tether having a conductive lead mechanically couples the housing to the interface system and allows the housing and interface system to be implanted at spaced-apart locations within the patient. The conductive lead electrically couples the interface system to the electronic components.

The pump assembly may include one or more fluid pumps and one or more valves. One or more sensing devices may be positioned within fluid passageways of the fluid operated device. The electronic control system may control operation of the pump assembly based on fluid pressure measurements and/or fluid flow measurements received from the one or more sensing devices. The pump assembly may include a piezoelectric pump. The one or more sensing devices may include one or more pressure transducers positioned in the fluid passageways, one or more strain gauges measuring deflection of piezoelectric elements, voltage input/output at one or more piezoelectric elements, and other types of sensing devices.

Abstract: A handle assembly includes a drive wire coupled to an expandable end effector, the wire having a diameter of no more than 3 French and a handle cannula receiving the wire therethrough, rotation of the handle cannula transferring torque to rotate the wire. The assembly also includes a shaft receiving the handle cannula, rotation of the shaft transferring torque to rotate the handle cannula. The assembly further includes an actuation assembly receiving the shaft, the actuation assembly coupled to a sheath sized to receive the wire and end effector therethrough, the actuation assembly moveable between a proximal configuration in which the sheath is moved proximally to expand the end effector and a distal configuration in which the sheath is moved distally to retract the end effector, the actuation assembly including a rotation mechanism transferring torque to the shaft to rotate the shaft.
