    摘要: A security system installation kit carries a coded designation of the characteristics of the components of the kit. An installer can use a wireless telephone, which is executing a scanning application, to sense or read the coded designation. The telephone can transmit the component parameters to an installation server. The server can transmit installation instructions back to the telephone. Those instructions can be visually or audibly presented to the installer facilitating the process. The installer, via the telephone and the server, can test the installed components for proper operation.

The alarm reporting module further comprises a low-power cellular transceiver to transmit the alarm message to the femtocell. The femtocell is connected to a fixed network such as the internet.

    摘要: A battery-powered RF sensor is provided for use in security and alarm systems for monitoring alarm state conditions, and transmitting an alarm state detection signal upon detection of an alarm state condition. The RF sensor is constructed to include an RF transmitting portion, a battery, a low-battery voltage level detection portion and a counter for periodically detecting an output voltage level of the battery, and comparing the voltage level to a first threshold voltage. If the detected battery output voltage level is determined to be less than the first threshold voltage, the low- or depleted-battery state is not immediately reported, but is reported at another time if the low-battery condition persists. That is, the low battery condition would preferably not be reported until daytime hours, other than for a dead battery condition. The reporting control is implemented by use of the low-battery voltage detection portion, which looks to a counter to determine the elapsed time since the low- or depleted-battery condition is detected. If the low- or depleted-battery condition persists until the counter counts down, the condition is automatically reported.

    摘要: A synchronizing method and system between a Radio Frequency (RF) transmitter and a battery powered receiver wherein the transmitter transmits short duration first periodic sync signals which are used by the receiver to maintain proper synchronization of the receiver with the transmitter during second periodic wake-up windows for transmission of data. The receiver wakes for a short duration at the start of each periodic wake up window to receive a possible transmission of data, and if no transmission is received goes back to sleep, and if a transmission is received stays awake to receive the full transmission of data. The basic principle is that the average current consumed by the battery powered receiver in order to wake periodically to receive the first periodic sync signals and the second periodic data transmissions is less than the average current required to maintain the receiver awake continuously. The duration (e.g. 14 ms) and periodicity of (e.g. every 32 s) of the periodic signals are selected to meet a FCC regulation of 2 second/hour allowed for synchronization.

    摘要: The present invention utilizes the advantages provided by a portable, wearable timepiece such as an electronic wristwatch for integration with a security system and performing various functions as a result of the timekeeping integration. First, the control panel of the security system may be synchronized by the timepiece, either automatically or when selected by a user. Second, the timepiece may be programmed to send certain commands to the control panel at certain times, such as a command to arm the system at 11:00 PM every night. Third, the timepiece can be used to send commands to the control panel on detection of a button press, but only after a countdown delay specified by the user. This gives the user the ability to press a system arm command that would only be sent after a delay of, for example, 15 seconds.

A status request trigger signal is generated as a result of the stimulus, and status data is then retrieved from an externally located central control unit in response to the status request trigger signal. The status data is then presented via the remote indication device to the user, either by providing a visual display or sounding an audible representation of the status data. The external stimulus may be the motion of a user within proximity of the remote indication device, and the generating of a status request trigger signal may includes the detecting of the motion of the user by a motion detector such as a PIR or a microwave detector.

    摘要: A security system comprising a plurality of remote wireless units, a central control unit and an adaptive console for translating messages in radio frequency signals into messages in signals suitable for transmission over a wire in order to augment the wireless capability of the system. The adaptive console has a wireless receiver for receiving the radio frequency signal, which includes identification and status information from a wireless remote units. The adaptive console also has a processing unit which translates the identification and status information from the radio frequency signal to corresponding function data derived from a mapping of valid identification and status information to function data, the function data representative of a function to be performed by the security system. The adaptive console also has a transmitter which transmits a signal over a wired connection which includes the corresponding function data to the central control unit or a wired security unit. The adaptive console may additionally have components enabling it to receive a signal from a wired connection, translate that signal to valid identification and status information, and then transmit a second radio frequency signal to the wireless remote units. Alternatively, the central control unit may contain the mapping and perform the translation from valid identification and status information to function data.

    摘要: A method, apparatus and system for maximizing transmission power levels in wireless security systems wherein the transmitted power is adjusted depending on the type of signal being transmitted in order to comply with power level restrictions imposed by agency regulations (e.g. Federal Communications Commission). Higher priority control signals messages are transmitted at the maximum permitted or normal output power level and are not compromised by the requirement for transmission of data signals that are transmitted at a reduced power level. In addition, a method and apparatus for reducing a required quantity of data signal transmissions in wireless security systems is provided, wherein data signals are exclusively transmitted at a reduced power level during an installation mode leaving only control signals to be transmitted at normal power during normal operation mode. Data information contained in the data signal is stored in a console during installation mode, and retrieved and displayed to the user in response to the control signal during normal operation mode. The reduction in data signal transmissions reduces on-air time, thereby reducing the potential for message clash.
