    摘要: A host adaptor is configured to monitor operation of an optoelectronic transceiver. The host adapter includes a transceiver interface, memory, comparison logic and a host interface. The transceiver interface receives from the optoelectronic transceiver digital values corresponding to operating conditions of the optoelectronic transceiver. The memory includes one or more memory arrays for storing information related to the optoelectronic transceiver, including the digital values received from the optoelectronic transceiver. The comparison logic is configured to compare the digital values with limit values to generate flag values, wherein the flag values are stored in predefined flag storage locations within the memory during operation of the optoelectronic transceiver. The host interface enables a host device to read from host specified locations within the memory, including the predefined flag storage locations, in accordance with commands received from the host device.

At a first temperature, a first bias current at which the laser generates optical signals at a first level is determined. At a second temperature outside of a predefined range of the first temperature, a second bias current at which the laser generates optical signals at a second level is determined. If the second temperature is greater than the higher end-point temperature of the predefined range, the second predefined level is defined to be less than the first predefined level. If the second temperature is less than the lower end-point temperature of the predefined range, the second predefined range is defined to be greater than the first predefined level.

    摘要: A network tap device array including one or more passive full-duplex bidirectional ZPL network tap devices is disclosed. The array enables data from multiple nodes in a communications network to be tapped and forwarded to a plurality of monitoring devices. In one embodiment the network tap device array includes a chassis that is configured to receive a plurality of passive full-duplex bidirectional ZPL network tap devices. Each passive full-duplex bidirectional ZPL network tap device includes network ports for passing network data via communication cables and tap ports for forwarding the tapped network data to the monitoring device. In another embodiment, a sub-chassis includes a plurality of passive full-duplex bidirectional ZPL network tap devices and an aggregator that aggregates tapped data from each of the tap devices. The aggregator then forwards the aggregated data to the monitoring device. The sub-chassis can be included in a chassis that is configured to receive multiple populated chassis.

    摘要: An apparatus and method are provided for setting the AC and DC bias levels of a laser diode in an optoelectronic transceiver so as to control the device's extinction ratio. An optical output of the transceiver is looped back to an optical input of the transceiver. The method includes setting a DC bias level for the laser diode, setting an AC bias level for the laser diode to each of a predefined sequence of AC bias level settings, and receiving from the transceiver a sequence of optical output power measurements, the sequence of optical output power measurements including an average optical output power measurement corresponding to each of the AC bias level settings in the predefined sequence. From the received sequence of optical output power measurements preferred AC and DC bias level settings are determined and stored in the transceiver so as to control the AC and DC bias levels of the laser diode.
