Abstract: A medication dispensing device with a housing and a member wherein the member is moveable in a distal direction is useful in delivering medication to a patient. A fluid container can be used with the device and often has a moveable piston at one end and an outlet at the other. The member receives a force from a user and drives the piston in the distal direction to expel medication. A intermediate system is disposed between the member and the piston including a gear set that has a pinion in meshed engagement with a rack. The system allows the member to move a greater distance than the piston moves thereby increasing the force on the piston.

Abstract: An injection device (1) for injecting a dose of drug, e.g. insulin for diabetes treatment, in which energy is stored in a spring member (9, 24) during dose setting. The stored energy is released and used for driving an injection mechanism during injection of a previously set dose. The injection device (1) further comprises means for electronically detecting the amount of a set dose and/or means for electronically detecting the amount of an injected dose. The electronic detecting means allows storage and/or logging of data relating to injections performed using the injection device (1).

The nut is screwed along the piston rod by rotating a dose setting drum. An injection button is coupled to the piston rod with a gear wheel transmission. The mode locking member is adapted to be in a first extreme position and in a second extreme position. Abstract: The invention concerns an injection device for apportioning set doses of a drug from a reservoir to a subject. Abstract: An injection device with a gearing arrangement providing a gearing ratio between axial movement of an injection button and axial movement of a piston rod. The injection device comprises a dose setting member being operable to set a dose by rotating the dose setting member relatively to a housing, about a rotational axis. During setting of a dose the gearing arrangement is prevented from rotating along with the dose setting member about the rotational axis. Thereby the space which it is necessary to accommodate to the gearing arrangement inside the housing is reduced. This provides the possibility of using this space for other purposes, such as additional electronic components, designing the injection device in a manner which is appropriate for other purposes, e.g. with a relatively flat cross section, or reducing the overall size of the injection device. According to one aspect of the invention, the gearing arrangement comprises at least one gear wheel having a rotational axis which is non-parallel to, e.g. substantially perpendicular to, the rotational axis of the dose setting member. According to another aspect of the invention, the gearing arrangement comprises a driving spindle being provided with a threaded portion having a first pitch, and the piston rod is provided with a threaded portion having a second pitch. The gearing is provided by the threaded portions.
