摘要: A securing device for an injection device which receives a syringe with a proximal end portion having a radially outwardly projecting flange, has a body with proximal and distal end portions, an opening for accepting the syringe, an outer surface, and a proximal end surface for contacting a distally-facing surface of the flange when the syringe is advanced distally, preventing further advancement. A securing arm includes a free end; a base end fixed to the outer surface; a first portion extending radially outwardly from the base end to permit the flange to pass; and a second portion extending radially inwardly in a rest position, contacting the flange as the syringe is advanced. The securing arm is elastically flexible to allow the free end to move radially outwardly, allowing the advancing flange to pass, and is biased to the rest position to secure the flange and the syringe against proximal movement.

摘要: A method of verifying the correct amount of a drug in a syringe, including the steps of providing a handheld electronic barcode scanning device containing digital data that includes a range of medically appropriate drug dosages to be administered to a patient by a syringe and a range of positions of a syringe plunger in relation to a syringe barrel correlated to the medically appropriate drug dosages. A drug container is scanned that causes the handheld device to display the identity of the drug and medically appropriate drug dosages. A medically appropriate drug dosage for a specific patient is determined and drawn into a syringe. The syringe is scanned and digitally compares the position of the plunger in the syringe barrel with the range of positions of the syringe plunger stored as digital data in the handheld device to verify the correct amount of drug in the syringe based on the position of the plunger.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a device which facilitates injection of a medicament using a hypodermic syringe. An exemplary embodiment of the device includes an injection application for a hypodermic syringe comprising a main body, a cover, an axial force structure, and a rate controller. The main body includes a perimeter bounding and defining an enclosure about a primary axis and operable to mechanically grip and enclose a major section of the hypodermic syringe. The cover is opaque, extends from the main body, and is continuous and unitary with the main body. The axial force structure is disposed in the main body and is operable to provide axial travel force to the hypodermic syringe along the primary axis. A rate controller is in cooperation with the axial force, and is operable to control the rate of travel of the hypodermic syringe from the unimpeded axial force.
