    摘要: A method for enhancing the performance of hair fixative resins in hair styling compositions by using selected polymers having certain compositions is disclosed. In particular, the present invention involves a method of improving the stiffness performance of hair fixative resins by using polymers containing 5-95% (C1-C10)alkyl (meth)acrylate, 0-70% hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, 0-50% monocarboxylic acid monomer and 1-25% dicarboxylic acid monomer. The selected polymers are particularly useful in aqueous hair styling compositions containing low (80% or less) volatile organic compound (VOC) concentrations.

    摘要: This invention provides a process for preventing dye from depositing onto fabric, and fabric finishing compositions useful in the dye deposition inhibiting process of this invention. Specifically, a process is provided where 1) an aqueous bath is formed comprising a) water, b) dyed fabric, and c) a dye deposition inhibiting agent, 2) the dyed fabric is treated in the aqueous bath and the fabric releases a portion of the dye from the dyed fabric into the bath, and 3) the dye inhibiting agent is maintained in contact with the dyed fabric for the duration of the treating step. The dye deposition inhibiting agent is added to the process as a fabric finishing composition comprised of at least 0.1 wt % dye deposition inhibiting agent.

    摘要: The present invention provides a hair styling composition comprising (a) 1% to 10% by weight of at least one polymer comprising, as polymerized units, one or more monomers having at least one acid-functional group; (b) 99% to 90% by weight of a solvent mixture comprising: (i) 5% to 100% by weight of at least one volatile organic solvent; (ii) 95% to 0% by weight of water, and (iii) 0% to 80% by weight of at least one propellant; and (c) a neutralizer, wherein the mole ratio of said neutralizer to the acid-functional groups on said polymer (a) is from 0:1 to 1.2:1, and the neutralizer comprises: (i) 10% to 30% neutralization of the acid group of the polymer by tetrabutylammonium hydroxide, and (ii) 90% to 70% neutralization of the acid group of the polymer by aminomethyl propanol. More particularly, the polymer (a) may comprise, as polymerized units, (i) 30% to 75% by weight of one or more monomer that has refractive index of 1.490 or higher, (ii) 1% to 30% by weight of one or more acid-functional monomer, and (iii) 5% to 69% by weight of one or more additional monomer. The hair styling composition of the present invention has improved clarity and humidity resistance.

Adding 0.25 to 10% by weight of the multifunctional pellet aid, based on the total weight of the pellet, to a plurality of ingredients and compacting the pellet aid and ingredients to form a pellet, affords a pellet having improved mechanical strength as a solid and rapidly disintegrating upon contact with an aqueous system.
