    Abstract: A flexible substrate includes a heater portion and a wiring portion. A heater wire is formed in the heater portion. The heater portion is fixed to a transparent window. In the wiring portion, a wiring to the heater wire is formed. The wiring portion extends to a rear side of a casing in a case where a side on which the transparent window is provided in the casing is set as a front side. A fixing member fixes the wiring portion within the casing. A light shielding member is constituted to shield stray light from the fixing member toward a detection unit.

    Abstract: An apparatus which detects particulate matter is provided. This apparatus estimates a volume of water inside an exhaust passage using estimation sections. When an estimated volume of water is larger than a water drainage threshold, an element portion is heated using a heater by the first temperature range controller, in a temperature range which resists water-induced cracking independent of a volume of water droplets. If the estimated volume of water is less than a water drainage threshold, the water drainage determination section determines that the water drainage of the exhaust passage is completed. Additionally, if it is estimated that the water drainage is completed, the element portion is heated by a second temperature controller at temperature lower than a starting temperature of combustion of particulate matter and in order to repel water adhered onto the element portion in a water-repellent temperature range for a predetermined period.

    Abstract: A ranging apparatus is provided which is mountable to a vehicle and includes a transmitter, at least one detector, a light transmissive window, a heater, a snow accumulation condition determiner, a snowfall condition determiner, and a heater controller. The heater works to heat the transmissive window. The snow accumulation condition determiner determines a snow accumulation condition of a surface of the light transmissive window.     Abstract: A ranging apparatus is provided which is mountable to a vehicle and emits a transmit wave and receives a reflected wave arising from reflection of the transmit signal from an object to calculate a distance to the object. The ranging apparatus includes a light transmissive window, a heater, and a controller. The light transmissive window permits at least one of the transmit wave and the reflected wave to pass through. The heater works to add thermal energy to the light transmissive window. The controller uses an ambient temperature outside the ranging apparatus and a speed of the vehicle derived from a vehicle speed sensor to control energization of the heater. When the vehicle speed sensor is malfunctioning, the controller controls the energization of the heater as a function of the ambient temperature without use of the speed of the vehicle.

    Abstract: In a LIDAR device, a projector projects scanning light along a preset scanning direction, and a receiver receives incident light from a scan area. An optical window is provided in an opening of a housing that houses the projector and the receiver, where the optical window transmits the light projected by the projector and the light received by the receiver. A heater wire for heating the optical window is provided on a least a projection window that is a projector side area of the optical window. A wire spacing that is a minimum distance between two points on adjacent segments of the heater wire, one on each, is equal to or greater than a width of a beam of the light projected by the projector in a direction connecting the two points.
