    摘要: A device for the collection of oral fluid from a subject's oral cavity may include a sample-collecting mouthpiece and a one-way valve. The mouthpiece may include a collecting chamber, introducible into the oral cavity of the subject for collecting oral fluid, and a resiliently deformable wall section defining at least part of the collecting chamber such that compression of the resiliently deformable wall forcibly expels a collected fluid from the collecting chamber via a collecting chamber outlet. The one-way valve may be in fluid communication with the collecting chamber outlet and may allow fluid to be displaced from the device following compression of the resiliently deformable wall but prevents ambient air flowing back through the valve into the device.

    摘要: A telemetry unit (100) is provided for mounting to the inside of a pneumatic tyre, which includes sensors for measuring the pressure and temperature within the tyre and an RF transmitter for transmitting measured data to an on-board display remote location. The unit (100) includes a piezoelectric element (114) supported in a housing (112) with an actuator (136) arranged for contact with the element (114), to deflect the element (114) in response to external forces acting on the actuator (136) during rotation of the tyre. For every rotation of the tyre, cyclic pulses of electrical charge are generated by the deflection of the element (114). The unit (100) includes control means which controls the consumption of stored charge when measuring and transmitting data and is arranged to vary the rate of transmission of data from the unit (100) in dependance on the rotary speed of the tyre.

    摘要: A film camera assembly has a taking lens and an aligned baffle. A film metering mechanism is actuable to transport the photographic film in a longitudinal direction past the baffle. A film support is aligned with the baffle and defines a pair of film stations separated by a light-blocking interspace mask. The first film station has an exposure opening and a pair of lateral edges adjoining the exposure opening. The second film station has a light-blocking image mask and an elongate demarcation opening adjoining the image mask in a second direction perpendicular to the direction of film transport. The exposure opening and demarcation opening are equal in length. The demarcation opening is aligned with one of the lateral edges.

    摘要: A flash-capable photographic film camera is provided with an auxiliary light path to direct a portion of emitted flash light through an elongated secondary exposure window formed adjacent a side of the camera picture frame so as to expose an edge demarcation bar on the film in an interframe area between successive exposed picture frames. The secondary window preferably extends along substantially the full length of the picture frame side to produce a positive indication of an image frame edge for enhanced detection by conventional algorithm-based edge detectors irrespective of actual image frame density values.

    摘要: A vehicle 10 which inspects pipes 12 using flux-leakage has a flux generating electromagnet 14 and foils 18, 20 to transfer the flux to the pipewall 12. Sensors 22 detect flux forced to leak from the pipe by defects. The vehicle is required to pass 1-D bends as shown and has a swivel 40 having a load bar 48 on which there is a link 46 of a towing chain 26. On straight pipe the link 46 occupies a first position nearer to the axis 44. In a bend the swivel turns so that the link 46 can slide along the load bar 48 to a second position further from the axis 44. This reduces the angle which the chain 26 makes with the axis 44 and jamming of the vehicle 10 in the bend is avoided.
