Abstract: A battery control system includes a battery including: first, second, and third terminals; a plurality of individual groups of two or more battery cells; and a plurality of switches configured to connect ones of the individual groups to and from ones of the first, second, and third terminals. A mode module is configured to set a mode to a first mode when a fault is present in a charging source of the battery. A switch control module is configured to control the plurality of switches based on a first predetermined capacity allotment when the mode is in the first mode.

Abstract: In an example, a battery control system is disclosed. The battery control system can include a plurality of batteries, a first terminal, a second terminal, and a third terminal. The battery control system also includes a plurality of switches configured to connect a first battery of the plurality of batteries to and from the first terminal and the third terminal and to connect a second battery of the plurality of batteries to and from the second terminal and the third terminal. The battery control system also discloses a switch resistance modulation module configured to modulate a resistance of at least one switch of the plurality of switches between zero ohms and infinity ohms based on a battery parameter and a control signal.

Abstract: A capacitor assisted battery module includes a first diode including an anode and a cathode. A second diode includes an anode and a cathode. The anode of the first diode is connected to the cathode of the second diode at a first node. A first capacitor assisted battery (CAB) block includes a positive terminal, a negative terminal and N CABs, where N is an integer greater than zero. The positive terminal of the first CAB block is connected to the cathode of the first diode. A second capacitor assisted battery (CAB) block includes a positive terminal, a negative terminal and N CABs, wherein the negative terminal of the second CAB block is connected to the anode of the second diode. The negative terminal of the first CAB block and the positive terminal of the second CAB block are connected to a second node.

Abstract: A system for modular dynamically adjustable capacity storage for a vehicle is provided. The system includes a battery pack including a plurality of battery cells, a negative terminal including a chassis ground connection, and a plurality of positive battery pack terminals. The negative terminal and the plurality of positive battery pack terminals are useful for connecting at least one electrical circuit through the battery pack. The system further includes a battery cell switching system, including a plurality of solid-state switches connected to each of the battery cells. The plurality of solid-state switches is operable to selectively connect a portion of the battery cells in parallel, selectively connect the portion of the battery cells in series, and selectively connect one of the plurality of battery cells to one of the plurality of positive battery pack terminals.

Abstract: A system for a vehicle includes a battery of the vehicle, a plurality of switches connected to the battery, and a plurality of subsystems of the vehicle connected to the battery via the switches and wires. The system includes a controller configured to control the switches and the subsystems, and to identify a variation in a rate of change of current characteristic in frequency domain for a current loop including one of the switches, one of the subsystems, and a plurality of the wires. The controller is configured to determine integrity of the plurality of the wires and connections of the wires in the current loop based on the variation in the rate of change of current characteristic for the current loop.

Abstract: A battery control system includes T contactor paths connected in parallel between a battery and a load, where T is an integer greater than one. Each of the T contactor paths includes a first contactor and a second contactor connected in series with the first contactor. Each of the T contactor paths includes at least one of a first voltage sensor configured to sense a first voltage between the first contactor and the second contactor; and a current sensor configured to sense current flowing through the first contactor and the second contactor. A second voltage sensor is configured to sense a second voltage at one end of the T contactor paths. A third voltage sensor is configured to sense a third voltage at an opposite end of the T contactor paths.
