Abstract: A fluid sprayer includes a spray gun that is configured to output a spray of fluid for application on a substrate. A trigger of the spray gun is operatively connected to a controller to control actuation of a pump that drives the spray fluid to the spray gun. A solenoid is connected to a spray valve of the spray gun to actuate the spray valve open to cause spraying by the fluid sprayer.

Abstract: A spray tip is configured to atomize thick, viscous fluids. The spray tip includes a pre-orifice piece having an inlet orifice that defines a first restriction in a fluid path through the spray tip. The spray tip also includes a tip piece having an outlet orifice that defines a second restriction in the fluid path. The first and second restrictions are the portions of the fluid path having the smallest flow areas. A cross-sectional area of the outlet orifice is greater than a cross-sectional area of the inlet orifice.

Abstract: A pump draws fluid from a reservoir and drives the fluid downstream to a spray tip where the fluid is applied to a surface. The pump includes a polymer pump body and a metallic piston configured to reciprocate relative to and within the polymer pump body. The metallic piston interfaces with an inner cylinder formed within the polymer pump body and pumps fluid through the polymer pump body to a spray nozzle downstream of the inner cylinder.

Abstract: A handheld sprayer comprises a housing, a turbine, a spray tip, a hopper and a trigger. An air flow passage extends through the housing. The turbine is configured to generate an airflow within the air flow passage. The spray tip is positioned to receive airflow from the air flow passage. The hopper is connected to the housing and is configured to discharge a fluid into the air flow passage. The trigger is mounted to the housing to control discharge of the hopper into the flow passage and airflow form the turbine. In different embodiments, the trigger controls airflow from the turbine to the spray tip or the hopper or both. Additionally, a method for spraying a fluid from a handheld sprayer comprises controlling airflow from a turbine and discharge from a hopper into a passage using a combined actuator.

The turbine is configured to generate an airflow within the air flow passage. The spray tip is positioned to receive airflow from the air flow passage. The hopper is connected to the housing and configured to discharge a fluid into the air flow passage. In one embodiment a valve is positioned within the air flow passage and configured to control the airflow from the turbine to the spray tip. In another embodiment, a voltage limiting circuit is configured to control voltage to an electric motor of the turbine to control speed of the turbine. In another embodiment, an air inlet control device is configured to control the air intake of the turbine.

Abstract: A tube dampener (12) for a fluid sprayer (10) is disposed downstream of the pump (18) to receive spray fluid output by the pump. The tube dampener includes a rigid body (24) and a flexible tube (26) disposed within the rigid body. The flexible tube is resilient to smooth pressure fluctuations in the spray fluid output by the pump, providing consistent pressure at a spray nozzle (28) downstream of the tube dampener (12).
