Abstract: A heat exchanging valve arrangement includes, a manifold defining a chamber, a first passageway, a second passageway, a third passageway, and a fourth passageway, and a member movable relative to the manifold configured to define fluidic communication between the first passageway and the second passageway when in a first position and between the first passageway and the third passageway when in a second position, fluid is flowable into the chamber through the fourth passageway such that fluid is exposed to surfaces of the member regardless of whether the member is in the first position or the second position.

Abstract: A method of extending the lifetime of brazed primary hot inlet wavy fin structures of aircraft heat exchangers includes inserting slots in the fins. The slots increase the mechanical compliance of the fins as well as act as crack arrestors should a thermally induced fracture occur. In an embodiment, the slots are inserted by EDM.

Abstract: A system and method that comprises an air cycle machine, a flow of bleed air, at least one heat exchanger, and an inlet configured to supply the flow of the bleed air is provided. The bleed air flows from a source to mix with recirculated air in accordance with a high pressure mode or a recirculation chilling mode. The system and method also can also utilize the recirculated air flowing from the chamber to drive or maintain the air cycle machine in accordance with the above modes.

Abstract: A replacement system, which includes a plurality of heat exchangers and a compressing device, is configured to prepare in parallel a medium bled from a low-pressure location of an engine and flowing through a plurality of heat exchangers into a chamber. The compressing device is in communication with the plurality of heat exchangers and regulates a pressure of the medium flowing through the plurality of heat exchangers. The replacement system employs a subsystem to treat the medium from the low-pressure location of the engine before it is received by the inerting system.

Abstract: A water injector for an aviation cooling system includes a body having a first end, a second end, and an intermediate portion extending therebetween. A conduit extends through the body from the first end to the second end. A spray nozzle is fluidically connected to the conduit and arranged at one of the first end and the second end. A mounting plate is arranged at the other of the first end and the second end. The mounting plate is configured and disposed to secure the body to an aviation cooling component. A filter is supported at the body and is fluidically exposed to the conduit. The filter is configured and disposed to capture particulate flowing into the water injector towards the spray nozzle.
