Abstract: A secondary node (SN) in evolved universal mobile telecommunications system terrestrial radio access network new radio-dual connectivity (EN-DC) with a master node (MN) can directly provide measurement configuration and receive measurement reports from a UE and/or coordinate measurement configuration and reporting with the MN. For example, only one measurement object configuration is allowed for a frequency, but both MN and SN can provide measurement reporting configurations on the same measurement object. The UE can send measurement reports for the same measurement object to both MN and SN or the node that configured the reporting criteria configuration. In another embodiment, only one node provides the reporting configuration but configures the UE to provide reporting to one node or both MN and SN.

Abstract: User equipment (UE) includes processing circuitry. To configure the UE for early data transmission (EDT), the processing circuitry is to encode a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble for transmission to a base station as a PRACH procedure Message 1 (MSG1), the PRACH preamble including a request for EDT. A random-access response (RAR) message is decoded, the RAR message received from the base station as a PRACH procedure Message 2 (MSG2) and including an uplink (UL) grant for the EDT with a transmission block size (TBS) indicator. A TBS is selected from a plurality of available TBSs corresponding to the TBS indicator. UL data is encoded for the EDT to the base station as a PRACH procedure Message 3 (MSG3) using the UL grant and the selected TBS.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) can include processing circuitry configuring the UE for Dual Connectivity (DC) with a Master Node-B (MN) and a Secondary Node-B (SN). The processing circuitry is to decode connection reconfiguration information received from the MN. The connection reconfiguration information includes signaling radio bearer type 3 (SRB3) configuration information. The SRB3 configuration information originating from the SN and configuring a SRB3, where the SRB3 is for direct communication between the UE and the SN. At least one of a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration completion message or a measurement report message is encoded for transmission to the SN.

Abstract: An apparatus and system of paging using paging early indication (PEI) and subgrouping are described. A fifth generation nodeB (gNB) checks paging information of a UE from a limited paging container of the UE provided from the core network to determine whether PEI/subgrouping information is present. The limited paging container contains paging information of the UE that is provided in the UE capability and is used by a previous gNB. If the paging information of the UE does not indicate the ability of the UE to use PEI and/or subgrouping, the gNB checks the information in the UE capability; if the paging information and the UE capability conflict, the gNB signals the UE to monitor for PEI/Subgrouping. The gNB updates the paging capability with PEI and/or subgrouping support before the UE enters idle mode or inactive state and sends the update to the core network.

The UE may determine that the eNB supports Fifth Generation Core (5GC) operation if the SysteminformationBlocklType1 message includes a plmn-Identity-5GC-r15 parameter. The UE may transmit a radio resource control (RRC) connection request message to establish an RRC connection. If it is determined that the eNB supports 5GC operation, and if the UE supports 5GC operation, the UE may encode the RRC connection request message in accordance with a default new radio packet data convergence protocol (NR PDCP) configuration; and may use NR PDCP for one or more subsequent messages.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) can include processing circuitry coupled to memory. To configure the UE for New Radio (NR) unlicensed band (NR-U) communications, the processing circuitry is to decode downlink control information (DCI) received via a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH). The DCI provides allocation of uplink frequency resources of a transmission bandwidth. The allocation is a block interleaved frequency division multiple access (B-IFDMA) allocation including a plurality of interleaved physical resource blocks (PRBs) forming M number of interlaces within the transmission bandwidth, and N number of PRBs within each interlace of the M number of interlaces, with N and M being integers greater than or equal to 1. Data is encoded for transmission to a base station via a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) using the B-IFDMA allocation of uplink frequency resources.

Abstract: Systems and methods of a security framework for an RRC connection are described. The UE receives a release message that comprises a current Next Hop Chaining Counter (NCC). The UE derives a new KeNB* using the current NCC and transmits an EDT RA preamble to same or a different base station. After receiving an RAR with an uplink allocation, the UE transmits a RRCConnectionResumeRequest message. The UE transmits uplink data encrypted using KeNB* if the uplink allocation includes a data allocation sufficient for the data, fall backs to a legacy RRC connection procedure in which the stored KeNB* is discarded and then KeNB* is re-derived if the data allocation is insufficient for the data due to a CE level change, and fall backs to a legacy RRC connection procedure in which the stored KeNB* is used instead of discarding KeNB* if the uplink allocation excludes the data allocation.
