Abstract:
A furring strip for mounting a cladding article to a building substrate, the furring strip comprising a first member, a second member parallel to the first member, and a web disposed between and spacedly coupling the first member and the second member. The first member, the second member, and the web form at least one u-shaped channel configured to receive and retain a wall cladding panel. The furring strip is fixable to a building substrate by mechanical or chemical fasteners to retain one or more cladding articles at a fixed spacing from the building substrate.
Abstract:
An integrated fiber cement and foam cladding system is provided that incorporates foam or similar light weight material to improve the insulation capacity of the cladding system. The system includes at least a fiber cement layer and a foam layer disposed on the backside of the fiber cement layer. The system improves the R-value of the building, a measure of the building's resistance to transferring heat or thermal energy.

Abstract:
A system for attaching finishing elements to building structures without conventional structural sheathing is provided. The system includes attaching at least one thin, flat strip of nailable reinforcement member such as a metal strapping directly to the framing of a building structure. The finishing elements are then attached to the reinforcement members via a plurality of fastening tabs. The reinforcement members are in direct contact with the framing and configured to provide structural support and increase wind load resistance of the finishing element attached thereto.
