    摘要: A home safety unit having an emergency light system for providing light in the event of a power failure or the detection of a fire condition, and a fire detection system for providing an alarm indicating the existence of a fire. The safety unit is designed to have an aesthetically pleasing appearance and to be installed inconspicuously between the base of an existing light fixture and a wall or ceiling. Installation of the safety unit is a simple process, whether installing it when constructing a new building or by retro-fitting it into an existing building.A modified light switch having parallel impedance across the light switch terminals is installed to provide continuous power to the safety unit when the switch is in its off position. Also included is a low voltage dropout system for disconnecting the auxiliary lights when the battery voltage falls below a certain level and for providing an audible alarm indicating this low voltage condition.

    摘要: The present apparatus and method relates in general to sealing a hole in a floor with a precast plug. A precast plug is created by pouring a wet aggregate mix into a form mold and thereafter inserting a pre formed rod into the uncured mixture, positioning it such that the center of the rod rests in the center of the form mold and the ends of the rod extend outward near the top of the form mold. The mix is then cured. The precast plug may then be transported to the hole that it is destined to fix. Grooves may be carved on either side of the hole to accommodate the rod's ends. The interior of the hole and the exterior of the plug may then be covered with a sealant, after which the plug may be inserted into the hole. Once the sealant cures, the hole is fully repaired.

    摘要: An apparatus includes a base substrate and a plurality of spaced apart end brackets attached to the base substrate. A pivotable one of the end brackets is movable between a retracted position and an extended position with respect to the base. A plurality of spaced apart side panel assemblies are removably mounted between each end bracket when the pivotable one of the end brackets is in the extended position. A first edge of each side panel assembly is positioned adjacent to the base substrate. A shroud assembly extends between the two side panel assemblies adjacent to a second edge of each side panel assembly. The shroud assembly, the base substrate and the side panel assemblies define an air duct. A fan is mounted adjacent to at least one of the end brackets for directing air through the air duct. The part count of the apparatus is reduced such that cost and assembly time are also reduced. Furthermore, at least one of the end brackets can be pivoted to the retracted position to allow the printed circuit substrate and end brackets to be more easily installed in the chassis as an assembly and to permit cost effective servicing of the apparatus.

    摘要: A diode laser device and method of use for achieving transcutaneous laser photocoagulation of the retina is described. A diode laser is used since it is much more efficient than the ion or dye lasers presently used for laser photocoagulation, and therefore will not require forced air of water cooling and can be made for compact. In addition, the diode laser can be used with standard 110 v wall sockets, and does not require the high power, three phase sockets required for the ion lasers. The end result is that compared to the ion laser device, the diode laser device can be brought directly into the operating room, which makes it ideal for transcutaneous delivery.A characteristic of diode lasers is that the emitted light diverges rapidly. In addition, the diode laser beam is emitted from a rectangular edge of a diode, and the light emitted along the longer sides of the rectangular edge will diverge more rapidly than that light emitted along the shorter sides of the rectangular edge. As a result, the emitted beam will become shaped as an ellipse as it travels from the rectangular edge.In one embodiment of the invention, the elliptical laser beam is shaped into a circle by an optical system before it is coupled to the fiber optic cable of the delivery system. In another embodiment, the fiber optic cable is directly coupled to the rectangular edge of the diode, making the optical system for shaping unnecessary.
