摘要: A curable material delivery cannula device and method are disclosed. The device includes a cannula and a hub. The cannula includes an open proximal end, a deflectable segment forming a pre-set curve, a lumen, and side orifice(s) adjacent, and proximally spaced from, the distal end and fluidly connected to the lumen. When inserted within a guide cannula, the deflectable segment straightens. When distally extended from the guide cannula, the deflectable segment reverts to the curved shape, which may be used to create a void in the bone for receiving curable material. The distal end has a blunt tip for non-traumatic interface with bodily material. During use, curable material, such as bone cement, is delivered from the side orifice(s) in a radial direction relative to the lumen.

摘要: Methods and devices for providing a biopsy device with a modified handle and stylet that provides a vacuum to be delivered to the targeted tissue for removal. The vacuum may draw the tissue into the notch where the tissue may then be severed via the cannula. Alternatively, the tissue may be drawn into to the notch after being severed via the stylet and/or cannula. The vacuum may be used to bring a larger amount of tissue into the notch than would otherwise be brought in the notch if no vacuum was used, providing a larger sample through the same size access point.

摘要: A medical drainage system may include a pair of inlet tubes separated by a pump bulb and a valve chamber, where the valve chamber is in fluid communication with a first inlet tube across a one way valve. A second one-way valve may be provided in the entrance to a drainage container at an inlet tube end opposite the pump bulb. The drainage container may be rigid or flexible and may be equipped with emptying means such as a drain valve, connector for suction source, or other emptying/draining means that can be used to partially or wholly void the container contents (e.g., for sampling, testing, or disposal).

摘要: A method for stabilizing fractured bone structure having a fractured height includes expanding the bone structure to a restored height greater than the fractured height by transitioning an expandable member inserted into the bone structure from a contracted state to an expanded state. A curable material is delivered into a cavity formed in the bone structure and allowed to harden while the expandable member maintains the bone structure at the restored height. The expandable member is then removed from the bone structure.

摘要: A method for stabilizing a bone structure including directing first and second expandable members in contracted state to a first location within the bone structure. The expandable members are expanded, forming first and second cavities within the bone structure. The first expandable member is then transitioned back to the contracted state while maintaining the second expandable member in the expanded state. The first expandable member is removed, and curable material delivered into the first cavity. The second expandable structure is contracted and removed. A curable material is delivered into the second cavity. A height of the bone structure is restored via expansion of the two expandable members, and is retained throughout the procedure first by the second expandable member during delivery of curable material into the first cavity, and then by the hardened material in the first cavity during removal of the second expandable member.

摘要: A distal end of a cannula immediately proximate a target site within bone. A portion of a cavity-forming device is extended through the cannula and distally beyond the distal end, and then operated to form a cavity at the target site. A track is defined in tissue of the target site between the distal end of the cannula and the cavity. The cavity-forming device is removed from the cannula, and replaced with a delivery tube. A distal tip of the delivery tube is directed distally beyond the distal end of the cannula, through the track and into the cavity. Finally, a material (e.g., a curable material) is delivered through the delivery tube and into the cavity. The cannula can remain stationary following initial insertion, and curable material is not directly deposited into the normally occurring “dead space”.

摘要: A tray is provided for serving selected food items, wherein the tray is to be used in connection with a separate elongated container, preferably of the type used to retain a beverage. The tray generally comprises a food holding section disposed to carry the food items, and structure for detachably mating or joining the food holding section upon the elongated container, for support thereby. Thus, the container, tray and food thereon can be readily supported and carried by a user as a single unit, by grasping the container with a single hand. In a useful embodiment the center of mass of the tray is substantially aligned along the container axis when the tray and container are joined together. Also, the food holding section and mating structure are usefully formed as an integral structure.

摘要: A shunt tap device is provided for use in sensing CSF pressure data in a shunt implanted in a subject, wherein the shunt comprises a valve having a reservoir, and first and second catheters providing CSF flow paths toward and away from the valve, respectively. The shunt tap device is provided with a hollow needle for temporarily forming an aperture through the wall of the reservoir, to communicate with CSF contained therein. A length of flexible microbore tubing extends from the needle to a coupling, such as a Touhy-Borst connector, which is disposed to receive the pressure transducer component of a pressure monitoring device into a narrow fluid enclosure, collectively formed by the hollow needle, tubing, and a portion of the connector. The fluid enclosure is filled with a saline fluid or the like, having properties similar to CSF. The connector is tightened to seal the saline fluid within the fluid enclosure, and also to retain the pressure transducer in the enclosure, in contact with the saline fluid. By means of such arrangement, CSF pressure data is transmitted from the reservoir to the pressure transducer through the saline fluid, enabling a pressure reading to be provided by the monitor. At the same time, the arrangement allows only negligible amounts of CSF to flow out of the reservoir.
