摘要: A bone anchor includes an anchor member including a first material, and having a tubular section extending along a longitudinal axis, a region configured to expand radially outwards from the longitudinal axis, and a bone engagement structure projecting from at least a portion of the expandable region of the tubular section, and a core member including a second material, and configured for insertion into and connection to the anchor member. When the core member is in the anchor member and is actuated relative to the anchor member, the tubular section is adjustable between a first position where the expandable region of the tubular member has a first length and a first maximum diameter, to a second position where the expandable region of the tubular member has a length shorter than the first length and a maximum diameter greater than the first maximum diameter.

摘要: System and methods for channeling a path into bone include a trocar having a proximal end, distal end and a central channel disposed along a central axis of the trocar. The trocar includes a distal opening at or near the distal end of the trocar. The system includes a curved cannula sized to be received in the central channel, and having a curved distal end configured to be extended laterally outward from the distal opening in a curved path extending away from the trocar. The curved cannula has a central passageway having a diameter configured to allow a probe to be delivered through the central passageway to a location beyond the curved path.

摘要: A medical balloon device includes an outer member extending along an axis. An inflatable member has a proximal end extending from a first end of the outer member and a distal end. An inner member is positioned within the outer member and the inflatable member such that a first end of the inner member is coupled to the distal end of the inflatable member. A support member is movably disposed within the inner member and includes a first end configured to removably engage the first end of the inner member. Translation of the support member along the axis causes the inflatable member to move between a first position in which the inflatable member has a first length and a first profile and a second position in which the inflatable member has a second reduced length and a second reduced profile. Methods of use are disclosed.

摘要: A method for fusing a spinal sacroiliac joint and a surgical kit. The kit includes a bone-void filler, stabilization device or implant, a guide pin, a joint locator, a set of dilation tubes, a reamer, a novel directional cannula, a novel tapping cap, a novel drill guide, a drill bit, and a novel implant positioner. The method includes the steps of locating the sacroiliac joint, retracting the soft tissue exposing the graft site, removing any bone obstructions and preparing a relatively smooth graft site horizontal to the immediate sacroiliac joint, creating a cavity in the ilium and sacrum to a predetermined depth that spans the sacroiliac joint, inserting a novel stabilization implant into the cavity, and seating the implant within the cavity at a predetermined depth.

摘要: A system for restoring height of a vertebral body with a balloon and stabilizing the vertebral body with bone cement. A delivery tube extends from a handle and may be formed from a flexible polymer and a radiopaque filler. The flexible polymer maintains a patent lumen along a curve so as to receive sequential introduction of the balloon and the bone cement to within the vertebral body at a location offset from a longitudinal axis. The radiopaque filler provides for at least a portion of the delivery tube being radiopaque under fluoroscopic visualization. The radiopaque filler may be barium, and the delivery tube may be constructed from coextruding the flexible polymer with the barium. Visual indicia on the handle may indicate a position of the delivery tube relative to another component of the system such as an access cannula. The visual indicia may indicate a direction of the curve.

摘要: A portable and passive safety intraosseous device to allow for direct introduction of medications, etc., within the intermedullary space of a subject patient's bone or, if needed, the removal of certain substances from such a subject patient's bone. Such a device permits direct drilling and placement of a cannula within the subject bone with access external to the subject patient's skin, permitting, as well, connection of a tube for such introduction/removal purposes. The ability to provide a passive safety unit allows for facilitated utilization in, for instance, emergency situations with the entire device provided for utilization thereof. The device includes a drilling component with a permanently attached stylet and a removable cannula, a power supply for a single drilling operation, a mechanism to draw the stylet back into the drill component after use and disengagement from the cannula, and an automatic closure that activates with the separation of the cannula.

A device includes a balloon catheter comprising at least one inner lumen incorporated within an elongated shaft; a distal end having an inner balloon positioned inside and completely surrounded by an outer balloon; and a proximal end having an adapter for passage of at least one of an inflation fluid or a medical instrument; and an optical fiber comprising an outer diameter sized to pass through the inner lumen of the elongated shaft; a nonlinear light-emitting portion of a given length, wherein a portion of a cladding material from the nonlinear light-emitting portion has been removed so that light energy may be emitted along the length of the nonlinear light-emitting portion; and a linear elongated portion for guiding light towards the nonlinear light-emitting portion.
