    摘要: A method of assembling an optical fiber connector includes the steps of providing a ferrule with an internal through passage, and using a gas for treating a surface of the internal through passage to enhance a bonding capability of the surface. Adhesive is introduced into at least a portion of the internal through passage and at least one optical fiber is secured to the surface of the internal through passage by the adhesive. Another method includes the steps of providing the ferrule with an internal through passage including a shoulder, a window that extends through a side surface, and a cap having at least a portion inserted into the window. Adhesive is introduced into at least a portion of the internal through passage and is in engagement with the shoulder for providing an axial stop for securing at least one optical fiber with respect to the internal through passage.

    摘要: A cable assembly configured to be deployed in a fiber optic communications network includes a pulling grip body disposed at an upstream end of the cable assembly and a preconnectorized distribution cable having a plurality of optical fibers and at least one strength member. The pulling grip body includes a pulling loop that is mechanically coupled to the strength member to permit a high tensile load to be transferred to the distribution cable without inducing relative movement between the cable elements. The pulling grip body is preferably formed by overmolding the pulling loop and the strength member with a flexible encapsulant material. At least one multifiber connector is terminated to optical fibers of the distribution cable at the upstream end. The pulling grip assembly and the preconnectorized distribution cable have a low profile capable of being pulled through a conduit.

    摘要: Fiber optic distribution cables and methods for manufacturing the same are disclosed. The methods present one or more optical fibers outward of the protective covering for distribution of the same toward the subscriber. Specifically, the methods include presenting a length of distribution optical fiber outward of the protective covering that is longer than the opening at access location. After the opening is made in the protective covering at the access location, the optical fibers for distribution are selected. Then a tool according to the present invention is positioned about the optical fibers selected for distribution and slid within the protective covering of the fiber optic distribution cable until it reaches a cutting location within the fiber optic distribution cable. Consequently, the tool is positioned for cutting the distribution optical fiber at a cutting location within the fiber optic distribution cable at a downstream location. Thereafter, the tool is removed and the cut distribution optical fiber is routed through the opening at the access location so the distribution optical fiber is presented outside the protective covering.
