摘要: A method and system for establishing a wireless communications link determines, through a first short-range communications link of a first type, whether a remote device is capable of supporting a short-range communications link of a second type. If so, information is exchanged with the remote device across the first communications link to establish a second short-range communications link of the second type. Once established, communications with the remote device across the second short-range communications link may commence. The first communications link may be a Bluetooth link and the second communications link may be an ultra wideband (UWB) link.

摘要: A method and system of controlling a multicast transmission. The method and system transmits a data packet to multiple slave devices across a UWB wireless network, and detects the reception of any acknowledgement transmissions. These acknowledgement transmissions indicate reception of the data packet by the slave devices. In addition, the method and system retransmit the data packet to at least one of the slave devices when an acknowledgment is not detected for each of the slave devices. The acknowledgments may be received from the UWB network.

摘要: A method of coordinating devices in a wireless network is provided. First capability data associated with a first type of power source and a first state of the power source of a first device is received at a second device. Second capability data is transmitted to the first device from the second device. The second capability data is associated with a second type of power source and a second state of the power source of the second device. The first capability data is compared with the second capability data at the second device. If the comparison indicates the first capability data is less desirable than the second capability data, the second capability data is transmitted again to the first device from the second device. If the comparison indicates the first capability data is more desirable than the second capability data, the first capability data is received again from the first device at the second device.

摘要: A system for conveying wireless information between an advertising device (advertiser) and another wireless communication device (receiving device). The advertiser's broadcast signal (advertisement) may inform the receiving device that information is available from the advertiser without the requirement of establishing a formal network connection. This information may be then be conveyed, by request, to the receiving device. Further, the advertising device may, in some instances, continue to broadcast to other receiving devices even though it is already engaged in a formal network connection with a receiving device.

摘要: Systems and methods for a communication system implementing a short range communication link between devices advertising available information and services, and user devices which may initiate a request for further information or services. The communication system provides a low power solution utilizing an optimized combination of a carrier sensing and frequency division multiple access to avoid collisions. The optimization involves the use of a random mean zero value offset appended to the advertising devices' transmission frames. The offset increases the likelihood that a first advertising device will recognize the transmissions of another advertiser's transmissions (i.e., determining that a channel is busy) and avoid unnecessary transmissions that will result in collisions. Upon recognition, the first advertiser may shift its transmission frame accordingly, thereby avoiding transmission collisions between advertisers. The communication system may be implemented in either a StandAlone LowRate system, or in a device with a pre-existing operational Bluetooth implementation.

摘要: Multiple nodes communicate using repeating patterns of superframes, where each of the superframes includes a beacon period. A beacon slot in a first Media Access Slot (MAS) is reserved by the plurality of nodes. This reserved slot occurs in the beginning of the beacon period and is used for communicating information relating to the superframe configuration. This information may involve adjustments to the number of MASs reserved for beaconing.

摘要: The present invention relates to systems and methods for a implementing an optimized power conservation communication protocol, wherein the communication link is flexible and the power consumption characteristics are optimized. One facet of the system's flexibility relates to the system's ability to negotiate device control roles associated with a polling communication link. Also, once the device control roles are in place and the communication link is established, the system selectively implements a number of polling protocols for a multitude of applications that need a low power consumption. In some embodiments the system maintains a communication link with a reduced frequency polling protocol. This type of communication link maintains efficient power consumption characteristics, as well as, connection times that are faster than establishing a communication link between disconnected devices.
