摘要： A portable terminal displays on a selection screen not only contents stored in the portable terminal but also contents stored in a contents server communicatable via a network with the portable terminal. The selection screen displays information regarding the size and location of each of the contents, as well as estimated time and cost required to obtain each of the corresponding contents based on information regarding communication speed and communication path such as communicatable areas. The portable terminal is also equipped with a function to search another communication path that becomes available when moving the portable terminal to another location, and a function to suggest to obtain the contents using such a communication path if the new communication path provides faster and/or more inexpensive connection.

摘要： A cellular phone which is easy to use featuring a sufficient degree of safety preventing unauthorized use by conducting a minimum degree of required authentication operation which is not perceived by the user. As the user holds the cellular phone 1 by hand, the control unit 12 issues an instruction to temperature obtaining units 15 to start detecting the temperature. The temperature obtaining units measure the temperature at regular intervals, and successively transfer the obtained temperature data to a temperature comparator unit 16. The temperature comparator unit judges whether the temperature data obtained by the temperature obtaining units are lying within a predetermined condition, and issues an instruction to biodata obtaining units 19 to obtain fingerprint data of the user depending upon the result of judgement. The biodata obtaining units obtain the fingerprint data of the user and transfer the obtained fingerprint data to a biodata authentication unit 20. The biodata authentication unit compares the obtained fingerprint data with the fingerprint data of the owner stored in a biodata storage unit 21, and judges whether the user is the proper user.

If the function of the program module has a problem, the program control performs proxy response processing of the network device by a virtual device program until the problem is corrected. Then, the operation of the virtual device program is stopped.Thus, among devices which operate in cooperation with one another by use of a communications protocol such as UPnP, even if there is a device having a device program that includes a bug, or even if there is a device that has a performance problem, the devices can operate in cooperation with one another.
