    摘要: A hydrostatic bearing pad type rotating device includes: a stationary body; an axial pad and a radial pad each attached to the stationary body; a rotating body supported by the axial pad and the radial pad at least in the radial direction toward an axis thereof so as to be rotatable about the axis; and a motor for providing a driving force to rotate the rotating body. The motor includes a stator attached to the stationary body, and a rotor attached to the rotating body to be opposite to the stator with a gap interposed therebetween. At least one of the stator and the rotor is attached such that its location is adjustable in the radial direction toward the axis and the axial direction along the axis. In this way, a hydrostatic bearing pad type rotating device having highly precise rotation performance can be provided.

    摘要: There is provided a spindle device utilizing an externally pressurized gas bearing assembly, in which the center of a pulse disc of a rotary encoder can be adjusted to minimize an unbalance of the weight of the pulse disc and such unbalance can be adjusted easily to minimize fluctuation of the pulse disc during rotation and to achieve a highly precise detection of the rotational position consistent with the resolution of the rotary encoder. The spindle device includes an externally pressurized gas bearing assembly (3) for rotatably supporting a shaft (1), a motor (10) for driving the shaft (1), and a rotary encoder (19) for detecting a rotational position. A pulse disc (16) of the rotary encoder (19) is fixed on a mounting surface (S), arranged in the vicinity of one end of the shaft (1) and lying perpendicular to a central axis of the shaft (1), by a fastening member (17) such as a bolt removably inserted through a fastening member inserting portion (7) provided in the pulse disc (16). The mounting surface (S) is an end face of a mounting base (12) fixed to that end of the shaft (1). This mounting base (12) is fixed to the shaft (1) by means of a plurality of radially extending set screws (13).

    摘要: Cobalt-containing iron oxide magnetic particles having a high coercive force and a small surface electrical resistance which are useful as a recording element for a magnetic recording medium, and a method for the preparation of the same comprising reducing acicular .gamma.-Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 particles in a reducing gas or liquid until the iron oxide reaches an intermediate oxidation state between .gamma.-Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 and Fe.sub.3 O.sub.4, dispersing the resulting iron oxide particles into an aqueous solution containing a cobalt salt and optionally a ferrous salt and an alkali of one equivalent or more to the metal salt(s), and heating the mixture at a temperature of higher than room temperature up to a boiling point of the mixture under an atmospheric condition such that the divalent iron is substantially not oxidized. The cobalt is thereby predominantly incorporated into the most outer layer of the acicular iron oxide particles.
